Magnaflow 16829 and 93456 Installation Help
Hello!
I have a 1991 Z28 305 TPI, everything is stock.
I recently purchased a Magnaflow cat-back system (16829, 3" pipes and flange) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-16829/
I am also looking to replace the catalytic converter. I was eyeing the Magnaflow 93456 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-93456/ as a replacement, but I'm a little unsure.
The specs state that the inlet is 2.25" inch. I would assume that this slides into the existing pipe where the old cat is cut from, clamp, and done.
However, will the 3" flange from the cat-back mate with the 2.5" "stock" flange from the cat?
Does anyone have experience using the 16829? This is my first time doing exhaust and I'm trying to get all the fact straight before I rip everything out.
Any help or insight is much appreciated. Thanks!

I am purchasing the cat back system too and was going to put in a new cat also but I'm also purchasing the magnaflow y-pipe. It sounds like you'll need to get a cat that has a 2.25 inlet and 3" outlet to mate with the cat back. Or you could just get the magnaflow y-pipe also and replace the whole shebang. Anyways good luck and are you able to post photos and more info as you do the swap, because I'll be doing the same soon.
