Building Dual Exhaust.

Brand new to this forum, and looking for a little guidance.
Recently got stationed in Guam and bought a nice little 91 rs 5.0 for $900
The roads here are pretty bad and due to some bad luck i managed to rip the exhaust from the headers. so my thought was to take off the original set up the previous owner had made and just using 314 stainless and going from the headers straight back into some cherry bombs i'll weld onto both sides. coming out the sides just from the back of the doors.
Dont have much money so if anyone has a better idea im all ears. i do have access to a industrial pipe bender and any welding equipment.

For best ground clearance you'll want to follow the factory routing and exit out the back. Exiting out the side will reduce your ground clearance by the diameter of the exhaust pipes. Some members have used square or oval pipe for a side-exit exhaust to maintain as much ground clearance as possible, but the fact remains that to get the most ground clearance you have to use the stock routing. A pair of 2.25" pipes with glass packs will fit in the stock routing without losing any ground clearance.

Summit and Jegs both carry a kit that contains almost all the pipes you need. I installed it on my Camaro a couple winters ago. I had to redo a few bends to get it as tight as I wanted it, but it wasn't difficult. The kit is designed to have both pipes exit on the driver's side rear, but I wanted one pipe on each side in the rear so I had to make some changes to that part of the pipes, and purchase a 180* U-bend but it turned out just fine.

I used the same kit as 92RS but I put my tips on the glasspacks and ran them straight out the back on each side.That way I didn't have to use a U-bend pipe, but either way it's pretty easy to install and was under $200 but I already had the glasspacks.

Thanks, im looking at a kit summit has for $180, biggest problem is shipping costs to guam >.<

I found out the hard way trying to go under or around the stock crossmember you wont get clearance. Rework the crossmember so the pipes can come straight out the long tubes right beside the tranny. Then you can run them without dragging the ground.

Is there a way you can give me a link to the kit you bought? I might be interested in this exhaust modification once the car is back to running condition.
