Hooker 2460 fitting problem!
hey guys
I finally got my headers today, so obviously i had to do a test fit ! the passenger side one slid straight into place, no worries there as i removed all of my AC. The drivers side however didnt, lots of wiggling and trying different ways i finally got it sort of in the right place. However its not quite there, its stuck in spaghetti junction that is all the brake pipes ! it doesnt sit flush on the ports and im scared to force it into place incase i break a pipe. Even if a pipe doesnt brake the header will be pressed firmly against the brake pipes though, thats not right is it ?
i had a quick look under the car too and it looks like it might get in the way of the oil cooler and hoses too, i havnt connected them back up yet, some people say they just bypass that, is that worth doing to save more hassle ?
im starting to flap now because its booked in for its exhaust 2 weeks today and ive still got crap loads left to do before i can try and fire him up :-/

Re: Hooker 2460 fitting problem!
That looks correct to me, I just got done spending 29 hours removing my stick manifolds to put my headers on. I got the same pair and I had fitment issues with the passanger side cause of some hard coolant line and I had to destroy my oil dib stick to make it fit. As for the driver side, it will touch the break Lines and be fine, that's why its wrapped in the sprial metal invade that happens
I got a question for you, which bolts did you use and did you get a basket on the passanger side?
I got 2 bolts that seem to be too long to bolt .I'm, it wants to go in at an angle cause its hitting a primaryand I baby get a gaskets.on the passanger side, its way too tight to get it in

This thread is a little old, but I just wanted to chime in for other that might come across this issue. I had the same problem with mine so I just carefully bent the brake lines out of the way. That might not be the safest advice to give, but as long as you press slowly with your hands you should be fine. You for sure don't want them touching the headers... Way to boil the fluid inside.

Re: Hooker 2460 fitting problem!
hey i totally forgot about this thread. but yeah they are on the car, i got the exhaust done etc.
i did eventually bend the brake pipes back slightly so they arent touching. as for the bolts, i just used the ones that came with the headers, i have to nip a couple of them up now and then but no big deal.
I had the same problem with getting a bolt in on the passenger side too because the tube comes out at an angle, the way i done it was take the header off and put the bolts through the holes first and start with the stupid one first, basically i started tightening them up with the header away from the block until the bolts clearned enough to press it up against the block, worked fine

I just love how things like this can be advertised as, "Should fit with a small amount of grinding." or "Works with regular shorty spark plugs!!!"
That's not to say you can ever change the plugs, but that they'll probably not hit the headers. Hope you get kevlar plug boots....

Also, those fuel lines are all over the place. I am in the process of switching over to TPI, but I am doing a rear entry fuel line.

Re: Hooker 2460 fitting problem!
 I just installed a set of these on to a 91 TA vert. Had the same problem with the brake lines, bent them out of the way to take care of that. As for the passenger side coolant line. I bent it slightly out of the way. That was it.
As for the bolts fitting, I took a screw driver and bent the header slightly to give clearance to allow the bolts to fit into place. I also used the Stage 8 locking header bolts with Pearcy's dead soft aluminum gaskets.
I should say that this install of the headers, is the 4th time I've done them (this particular set 3 times on 3 different engines and another set of on a friends car)
What I did with the dip stick to aid in the ease of installing the header was remove it temporarily drop header in, bolt in header, then reinstall the dip stick tube with some RTV.
HTH.
They are one of the easiest headers I've installed..

Re: Hooker 2460 fitting problem!
im in the process of putting these on also taking my time though today im going to finish the passenger side up then start the drivers side. everyone says the drivers side is easiest but the passenger was pretty damn easy so if the drivers side is easier il have it done in no time at all.
