FYI for newbies and rookies...painted headers

if you install painted after market headers (i.e. headman, hooker, doug hurley) they sell them painted black.

DO NOT PANIC WHEN YOU SEE LARGE AMOUNTS OF SMOKE COMING FROM ENGINE BAY AFTER THE FIRST RUN. its the paint burning off.

i have had several rookies come to me panicking bout their install gone wrong or engine is shot. RELAX

if ur not a rookie and u know this, just move on, no need for condescending remarks.

Re: FYI for newbies and rookies...painted headers

i recommend buying some $8 high temp header spray paint. just use paint remover on them and do a couple of coats and they won't burn off and they'll keep the rust at bay.

thanks for the tid bit of info. i just felt i had to break it down barney style for some of these newbies. if i come off as corny with my wording and phrasing its only cuz i know im talking to rookies and not experts.

imo in the long run its better to pay extra for stainless or coated headers.

the link below has 6 sets of headers that are under 400bucks. theres 4 more pages of decent priced ceramic coated headers. but yes there are some really expensive brands (i.e. Dougs, Hooker has some, Patriot)

That's still 4x the cost of uncoated headers...
