Some Hooker 2055 Questions
Sorry if these have been answered/covered elsewhere, but I've been searching and reading for hours and want to make sure I buy the right items...
My car is a 1985 Camaro. I'm replacing the stock 305 engine with a 383 stroker. The exhaust has from the stock y-pipe has been replaced already, it is a single cat system. My questions:
1) I've found that the 2055's come in ceramic coating or with black high temp paint - the price difference is about $220. Worth it?
2) The y-pipe comes with a bung already welded in for the 02 sensor, correct?
3) All of the AIR components appear to have been removed already and my new engine won't have any but from what I've read the headers come with tubes that will have to be capped or closed. Correct?
4) Am I better off getting rid of the cat altogether or replacing it? If get rid of it, is there something I can buy to replace it or is it more a case of getting something made?
If it matters, there are no emissions tests or inspections where I live. Thanks.

2) No.
3) The 2055's will have air tubes. I had mine removed and the holes welded (what that might do to the coating is an issue).
4) The following is a direct-fit system: Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).

Why settle for less?

Not sure what "these" are. Brand, cost, etc. Is there a place for an O2 sensor? Are these stainless?

Re: Some Hooker 2055 Questions
They are Dyno Don's Heaaders. The best bang for your bucks. 2nd to them would be SLP's. Both headers are 1 3/4in tubes and they will support your 383. The best in shorties.

Re: Some Hooker 2055 Questions
I think the question is as follows: Will Don's Y-pipe fit the cat I mention. I suspect so, but Don would be in the best position to know. Perhaps he'll chime in.

His pipes will fit dual 2 1/2 cats and the 3in single cat. I go to his shop all the time.

Yes, that was my question - thanks for the replies.
Sent Don a PM, I'm getting his headers and y-pipe. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Some Hooker 2055 Questions
The dual cat set up makes more power that single cat. That is what the G92 package car came with which was the dual set up.

Re: Some Hooker 2055 Questions
I'm a little confused...do I need to go to a dual cat setup? Or will the Dyno Don's headers & y-pipe along with the high-flow cat and catback system be good enough?

Re: Some Hooker 2055 Questions
Dyno Don has both set ups. Single cat is good but dual is better. Look at my sig. Most of us in SoCal run dual cats.

Re: Some Hooker 2055 Questions
With the single cat, you should be able to simply bolt the system into place.
Before I jumped into dual cats, I'd want to know a couple of things: Will your OE cat hanger work with dual cats; will you need to install different heat shield(s); and will you need to find a dual-cat AIR pipe?
