time to order all exhaust parts
ok i finally laid out how i was going to do it after being informed that a single pipe would be plenty. i have hedman ball socket long tube headers. i had a shop bend what would basically be xtensions. i will be welding it all myself and have it thought out pretty well(i think). ill try to explain it
i will be doing 2.5 into a 3 inch y pipe, then a reducer to go from 3 to 3.5 all the way back to the original muffler mount. which will be this muffler and these tailpipes.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-43244/
for the driver side header i will do 2- 45's to get me to the y pipe and just leave the passenger side to basically go straight into the y pipe.
will 2- 3.5-45's get me over the axle? and is it ok to do a 90 bend into the muffler?
i measured yesterday and the exhaust pipe is 3.5 inches from the bottom of the floorboards, so as you can imagine, horrible ground clearance.
am i going about this right? is it laid out perfect?
thanks for the input and reading my novel

Sorry to point this out a little late, but your muffler choice is not a Camaro configuration with the inlet & 1 outlet on the pass side and 1 outlet on the drivers side so for sure the stock pass side tailpipe won't work as designed.
You will need to find a Camaro muffler with the inlet & outlet sizes you want or you could have a muffler shop fab up dual driver side tailpipes (if there is enough space for 2).

it is all going to be 100% made. i am going to start at the back and get the muffler/ tailpipes on first. then make the y pipe and then join them together. i understand it was a universal muffler but worst case scenario i have to get tailpipes bent. i get it all figured out though. i got it all last night. i will put it on the lift and see how well it fits.

OK, I thought you were looking for a standard Camaro set-up using a standard flow configuration for the muffler and tailpipes. The Summit description of the muffler indicates:
Inlet Diameter (in)3.500 in.
Inlet Quantity One
Inlet Location Center
Outlet Diameter (in)2.500 in.
Outlet Quantity Two
Outlet Location Offset
By the Summit photo, the centered inlet looks like it is the one that is on the single side, leaving the 2 offset outlets on the opposite side. I was confused as this is not the standard Camaro muffler configuration, so both outlets will be facing the drivers side of the car if you locate the muffler in the normal spot behind and parallel to the rear-end.
Sounds like you got it all worked out, so good luck!

OK, I guess the Summit description of the muffler is not quite right:

Inlet Quantity One
Inlet Location Center
Outlet Diameter (in)2.500 in.
Outlet Quantity Two
Outlet Location Offset
By the photo, the centered inlet looks like it is the one that is on the single side, leaving the 2 offset outlets on the opposite side. I was confused as that is not the standard Camaro configuration.
Good Luck!

i see what your saying now, it is wrong, the inlet should be on the same side as an outlet... damn it, thanks for catching it. on summits website they only listed one other for a 3.5 inlet... this just sucks.
i might leave it and let people think its a v6 with a single exit if i merge them together at the end... spose its all in the name, SLEEPER

Well, I would consider two tailpipes all the way out on the drivers side. Left/right symetry can be over-rated when it comes to styling . . . Tastefully unique styling will set you apart from the rest of the pack! Take a look at the Firebird wing on my Camaro. I like that I am different from the rest.

i test fit the two tailpipes on just the muffler, they fit perfect and lay side by side against each other, the only thing i will need to do is cut the turndown off and turn it 180 and extend the pipe so they are equal length. should look pretty good. just have to put the motor back in the car to support the trans so i can put it on the lift and get it all welded up

Nice! When you get this done can you post a picture so I can see what it looks like? I may want to do something similar in the future . . .

Nice job, that looks awesome. I love it when a problem turns into an opportunity!
Hey since you are obviously a good fabricator, you might be interested in another current post I have: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/susp...ml#post5192929

You could do a 2.5" into 3.5" merge for your ypipe. Buy a flowmaster merge pipe. Then you will have no restriction when both pipes merge to 3" on your current set of plans. This Y pipe will have a good transition from 2.5" to 3.5" single.

i do have a y pipe, all i could find when i was at summit was their crappy cherry bomb one though, it was 2.5s into a 3, so i welded a 3 to 3.5 reducer onto it to make it a 3.5. and then i put the wideband bung on the single so i would have the a/f ratio from both sides and not just one
