Magnaflow exhaust system to low?
Does anyone here have the same problem as I do with my magnaflow stainless steel catback system??
I installed a complete new exhaust system on my car couple of months ago.
Hooker 2055 Headers...Catco 9118 catalytic converter and a magnaflow cat-back system.
I have also lowered my 87 Camaro with the Eibach sportline system.
Now I am having problems with my exhaust touching the road almost everywhere. I guess there are not more than 2-3 inches from the lowest part on the exhaust until it touches the road. Of course on the more nicer roads the car rides fine but there should be much "unstraightness" on a road before it touches.
Does anyone have any problem with this kind of setup???
I think there is a chance that I can modify the bracket which holds upp the muffler and the last 2 exhaust pipes to get the exhaust system a bit higher but I am not sure yet.

Where is it contacting? Are there any visible scrape marks? That would determine how to fix the problem. I don't know how bad the roads are in norway but I've had a 3rd gen lowered more than what sportlines do and didn't have that much of a problem. I remember 2 or 3 distinct times that I hit something, but it was either something fairly large in the road or one time going through a pretty big dip going way too fast. The one real disadvantage with sportlines is that they are both pretty short and not that stiff for that short a spring, the springs that I was using at a lower ride hieight were significantly stiffer.
With things installed correctly the lowest spot should be by the crossmember, but it usually isn't a problem since it is between the front tires and when going over things like speed bumps the tires should ride over and lift that section. If something scraped it was usually the transmission pan, a few times with large obstacles I hit the exhaust pipe between the K member and oil pan.

My car was parked inside my garage on a complete flat floor.

Re: Magnaflow exhaust system to low?
The bracket attaching the back of the cat to the tail of the trans should hold it up much higher. Is that bracket missing? You should be able to tuck it to within about 1" of the floor pan.

Re: Magnaflow exhaust system to low?
So the headers are bolted direct on the heads. The Y-Pipe are bolted further on the headers and then the Y-pipe is to low after my opinion.
And the car and the rest of the exhaust doesn't go any higher either so it is getting a little bit lower than the y-pipe and the cat.
I think there is a chance that I can lift the entire muffler and the exhaust bend over the rear axle a little bit. Then I think the catback system will raise a few millimeters. But the catalytic converter itself is to low and I cannot adjust anything because of that low y-pipe stuck to the cat.

Re: Magnaflow exhaust system to low?
Mine was too low so I put it up on a lift and loosened every clamp and twisted and fiddled to it fit well. I raided it up about an inch.

I used some low temp grease in every joint to make my life easier was kinda stinky after I started it but the smell went away quickly.
