Exhaust Manifold Block Plate?

I recently got my camaro running after many hours of labor/cursing. In the process of fixing several different things that were wrong with it i decided to remove my electronic EGR valve to try and obtain some more room when i was setting the distributor. Unfortunately i broke off one of the studs, now with that being said I know that the EGR is not neccessary for the camaro to run. My question now is if anyone knows if a prefabricated exhaust manifold block plate exists. If so, I'd like to know where i could purchase one. Otherwise, i'm just going to take my welder out and start filling it up that way....haha. I dont really want to go to that option because if for any reason i need to slap the EGR back on, i'd like to have that option.

Thanks in advance!

-Marc

Re: Exhaust Manifold Block Plate?

Can i use these directly on top of my exhaust manifold? It says in the description its the intake manifold block plate.

"Close off the unneeded EGR ports in your race vehicle's intake manifold with these Ron Francis Wiring EGR block-off plates"

Re: Exhaust Manifold Block Plate?

Why would you need to block off your exhaust manifold?

Re: Exhaust Manifold Block Plate?

Theres a tube that runs out of the intake manifold and into the electronic EGR valve. The EGR valve sits directly on top of an extension that sits directly on top of the exhaust manifold. Without the EGR valve on top of it, the camaro runs but is extremely loud and all of the exhaust is leaking underneath the hood.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Block Plate?

It's the standard 3.1 Liter that the 1991 camaros came with.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Block Plate?

gm didnt use linear egrs intill the late 90's ? This must be a v6 ? you can get a mounting gasket and use as template to make a block off plate should be felpro 70397

Re: Exhaust Manifold Block Plate?

Yes sir, that would be absolutely correct. It's a little V6 project that i've been working on. I cant really complain too much because I bought the car for 500 bucks and have only put in 150 dollars of parts into it and now it runs without any codess.(aside from the EGR when it gets to operating temperature)
