LT1 383, will the 2055's be enough?

Here's another question for the masses. I'm building an LT based 383 and I'm wondering if my 2055's will be enough for it. They are modified as in I ported out the collectors to 2.50 from the stock quarter sized hole they came with lol. I know the 2055's are 18 gauge and flow well on their own but I feel like 1 3/4 would work better for me. Any thoughts on this? I'm leaning toward a set of Dyno Don's but if I can save alittle cash with what I have I'm cool with that too.

they will be perfect I had a 383 LT4 with them and there was never a exhaust issue

I had a 3 inch y pipe 3 inch back to a magnafflow muffler with 4 inch 18 inch tips

Far from perfect, but still good, however could be better.
Remember, LT1's have raised exhaust ports.
Also, 1 5/8: is 1 1/2" inside diameter they are pushing the limits of a 355.

OK, I'm wanting to put AT LEAST 450hp to the ground so not perfect isn't going to work for me lol. So Don, can you make a Y that goes instead of a 3 inch maybe a 3.5?

SBC headers fit LT1s even with the D ports I had mine port matched to the hookers and mine were 1 7/8

383 lt4 heads were lt4 done by AI custom cam simular to GM847 fully forged short block it put 550 to the ground along with all the other bells and whistles over all it took me about 9.5 k to build that motor

Re: LT1 383, will the 2055's be enough?

I'm doing a fairly similar build myself. Mine is a fully forged eagle set with 6 inch I beam rods and 12.1 mahle pistons. The heads Are ported by yours truly and will have 2.02/1.60 valves with a 5 angle cut. I'm also doing a single plane efi set up with a 1000cfm 4150 throttle body and 36lb injectors. I'm still on the fence about a cam, I was looking at an LE3 cam but I don't know if my 3200 stall would be enough for it.

You want that much to the tire all motor then you need 3" collectors and should try 1 3/4" header tubes. Dyno dons for shorties definately

Also le3 cam for high rpm high hp would love 4000 stall for best track performance but any stall above 2000 will drive well enough

Re: LT1 383, will the 2055's be enough?

Hmm ok, I'm primarily building the car more for road racing/autocross so do you think the 3200 would work ok? I know I'll have more than enough bottom end grunt with the torque of the engine alone to get the car moving hard when "straight" time comes along. I don't want to go cheap but I do want to save where I can. Here's the two cam's I was looking at

232/240 .578/.574 110 LSA - 2200-6400 RPM LE2

236/244 .579/.578 110 LSA - 2400-6600 RPM LE3

My next question is for Don, Could you build your headers with a 3 inch collector? If so how would that effect the price?
