dual cherry bomb idea(with pics)

so a while back i was looking at my exhaust on my 1984 camaro z28. I noticed that it had two mufflers, so then i came to the idea of dual cherry bomb extremes. its slowly coming together now but for the most part its on the car. just need to get it all welded, tips put on, and hung professionally.
i will upload a sound video soon also some pictures of it all finished
here it is,
this is before

after

almost done

still more work to do but the result is awesome it sounds great

Re: dual cherry bomb idea(with pics)

I thought that style was 82-83 only, never knew 84 came with it. Looks cool though but the rest is probably the most restrictive exhaust ever on a 3rd gen.

Shame you cut it up, those KITT guys pay good bucks for that style exhaust.

That's cool but your exhaust is still restricted. You should have gone with a single muffler or a later style cat-back system. Those 2 inlet pipes in the center are the worse restriction. No smooth flow.

You did not do a bad job, but like was said that inlet tube is crazy restrictive, but oh well, you like it and the car runs fine then rock it.

Re: dual cherry bomb idea(with pics)

Hey, 69boss429man, I "stole" your car the other day... the pistol grip shifter is a little weird!

Re: dual cherry bomb idea(with pics)

That's a HP killer for sure.
I'd bet you would pick up 40 plus HP with a single 3" in/out muffler setup.

Maybe on a hot 383 or 400, but not on a stock LG4. You could use coffee stirrers on an LG4 without it causing a noticeable restriction.

I forgot to add, headers and Y pipe to the 3" catback.
It's just freeing up HP that that is there but strangled by a nasty factory setup.

Either way, just the 3" would be way better.
But if he is going for sound over mileage/power, by all means, soda straw it up !

Re: dual cherry bomb idea(with pics)

weren't those setups on only the real early 80s cars? What was the point?

So they could still say, look under there, it has dual exhaust!
There are 2 little pipes that go over the rearend.

It's kinda like putting a cork in your butt with a 1/8th in hole in it and wondering Y you can't fart verywell after eating beans.
GM was good at it!
