cheap exhaust question

Are there or does anyone know of a stock sbc manifold that flows better and is a direct bolt in? Would like to get a little more hp outta my 305 tbi as cheaply as possible as it is a continuing process fixing al of the other minor problems with it first before I do a 350 swap. So most of my funds are going to that as it is a daily seasonal driver. Thanks in advance

Re: cheap exhaust question

L98 or L69 exhaust manifolds and Y pipe would be the only other manifold/ Y pipe that would fit besides stepping up to a set of headers.

Re: cheap exhaust question

the 350 and 305 headers are the same, you could get them anytime and run them on either.

You're wasting your time and cash swapping to different manifolds.

The time and effort will not be rewarded with even a noticable gain in performance.

But some shorty hedmans and y pipe, or jegs brand.

Well, you may get a bigger bang for your buck by going to headers, but I did get a noticeable improvement on my CFI by going to L69 exhaust manifolds.

Re: cheap exhaust question

The gains from swapping to L69 or TPI manifolds is not all in the increased diameter of the cast iron manifolds but in the ability to connect the much larger y pipe that is specific to them. JamesC has several threads related to this, including this one:

Re: cheap exhaust question

I would actually be surprised if LT1 manifolds didn't fit, and they're a significantly better design... Would they make more power? Donno...
