smog station telling me edlebrock headers not legal
smog station telling me edlebrock headers not legal
Before i bought these headers for my 1990 iroc they said legal in all 50 states. What do i need to show these people to prove them wrong is it the CARB # stamped on the header itself. Thanks

A CARB # is California Air Resources Board certification #. To start with.....If something is legal in California then it is legal everywhere else.
I would definitely (politely) point out the C.A.R.B. # to them & remind them of how the CA restrictions are way more restrictive than all other 49 states. Beyond that...I would say to get documents from Edelbrock or take it up with the State above the local station guy.
Unless they have been modified ie:the smog tubes cut off or the C.A.R.B. tag swapped to non-legal headers to fool the unknowing eye. Then yeah.....They are legal.

I'm curious to see how this one goes. Just one of the reasons I stayed with stock manifolds here in CA./Sonoma County. My car is a street car so even though a nice upgrade there not 100% necessary for my application. Still want to see how this goes though.

Do you headers still have the air tubes and are otherwise untampered with? I've passed smog many times with Edelbrock headers without any issues.

Re: smog station telling me edlebrock headers not legal
I had Edelbrock TES on my car when I lived out there, in an "enhanced" smog area.
All I needed was the CARB EO# for them, which used to be posted on Edelbrock's site. In fact it was on a tag welded to one of the tubes on the pass side as well, but the ceramic coating I had, covered it up.
Since they don't sell those any more, I guess they took all that down off their site... might need to give em a call. Pretty sure they can get you what you need, if your tag can't be read.

It really is pretty simple, get away from that place and go to another one
They are not all that dense.

Yeah, If they have a c.a.r.b. number, they are emissions legal in California, simple as that.
