Changing Plugs W/ Hooker 2055's
Iv read all the theories but was wondering if anyone has actually done this with out using a shorty plug or is it impossible?

I have 2055 headers with angle plug heads. I run standard length plugs and can get them all out with a standard spark plug socket, but its kind of a pita. I think I will probably get the go-thru socket set from Harbor Freight that JamesC linked to. That looks like it will make it a lot easier.

There was an article in Hot Rod years ago (Feb 2000), and the guy was talking about changing the plugs with headers on a Firebird. He took a spark plug socket that had a hex head on the end, and cut it off so the inner hex bottomed out on the plug and the plug sticks through where you would normally insert the ratchet, then uses a wrench on the outer hex. I tried it, works great.

I have hooker 2055s and changing plugs is a no brainer once you've done it a couple times. I can get all 8 in/out from up top (Keep in mind I have done everything I can to clean up the engine bay and my car has no emissions equipment so I hacksawed the air tubes off the headers and had the holes welded).
Shorties are a MUST. I run NGK shorties and have never had a problem with them. Never misfire. Some of the plugs you can get with a regular socket. Other ones I use a shorty socket. There was a guy on ebay who was selling them however you can make your own. This is done by cutting a regular 5/8 spark plug socket in half then drill out where a ratchet would normally attach. This allows the socket to slide over the spark plug socket and you then use a 3/4 wrench to turn it. I believe maybe 1 or 2 of the plugs I use no socket and just slip the box end of a wrench over the plug nut.
A few of the plugs I have to snake my arm throughout the headers to get to, namely the #6 and #8 plugs but I'm used to it now. Changing plugs is no sweat for me with 2055s.
