Header gaskets

i set up this thread a while ago :https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exha...hell-need.html

I have D-port exhaust on my heads, round port hooker headers. they seem to be leaking on my first start up. did i use the wrong gaskets? should i have used round port gaskets instead?

Re: Header gaskets

i called up summit today, they said to get the gasket to match the header flange and not the exhaust port on the head. i was wondering if anyone knew of SCE brand was any good? thats the only one they list in copper oval port.

Re: Header gaskets

Don't EVER contact Summit or Jegs for tech advice!!!!

Match the gasket to the HEAD, not the header flange.

Use these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/tfs-30490931

MLS gaskets are far superior to anything else, will never blow out, and can be reused multiple times.

Re: Header gaskets

they did make a good point though in regards to the gasket, with the D-port, i have an opening at the bottom of the gasket with the header. if i get oval gaskets then that'll cover the whole thing

Re: Header gaskets

I used header gaskets from autozone for the L98 aluminum corvette heads and they worked like a charm on my Dyno dons headers

Re: Header gaskets

my issue is i have D port heads, and oval port headers. i was told by lots of people here that it would work, it would appear as though i got the wrong gasket though. i'm going to try and replace it sometime next week and hopefully i'll have no more noise out of it
