cleaning your cat! a cat bath
so , lately I have found that adding .5 gallon of laquer thinner to 10 gallons of gas is a fine way to clean a clogged catylitic convertor. I have done it, it works. no o2 sensor damage either.just a heads up

yeah ,I did research on this BEFORE I possibly ruined my daughters sentra.and as with all things like this .there will be ones who disagree. but it DID make her CEL go away. we had a PO420 code, inefficient catylist. and now we don't. might have been a fluke, but we. will wait and see.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a coincidence... I'm wondering if it will still be good 6 months from now.
Lacquer thinner is just a mix of hydrocarbons, so is gas. I don't believe it's a better solvent for crud than gas, and I don't believe that enough of it will survive the combustion process to make any difference in the converters. I also don't think it's likely to damage anything so I suppose if you have a failing converter it won't hurt to try.
Acetone, Toluene and Xylene are known to clean things up (mostly in the intake/carb/combustion chambers), but again I would be surprised if enough of any of them withstood combustion to make a difference in the converters, and there have been examples of them hurting parts (acetone will break down some plastics and rubbers in your fuel system)
Update if it changes.

Eric The Car Guy would beg to differ...
