I keep seeing offset piping under these cars right off the header collectors, are you guys running offset header extensions like these ??

Seems to be an easy answer to exhaust under these cars, Come straight off of these to my flowmaster 10 series, and turndowns on the ends of them. Am i missing something?

What trans you running?

I have a th350 with long tubes (3" collectors to single 4" over the axle )

The hard part is making the pipes go around the trans and under the frame rails without scraping the ground.

I cut the frame rail on the passenger side, no clearance problems now.

Ive notched my transmission crossmember. I have a picture of someone elses that I went off of if u want me to send it to you. It allowed me to run it "through" the crossmember and then to a single on pass side

700r4 trans in a 87 IROC. I would like to run duals back to some 10 series flowmasters and dump them just before the axle, seems to be my simplest route. Just want to build some clean, simple exhaust that does not leak. I went over a bridge the other day and broke the stock pipe off the cat. Will be getting some headers this afternoon and seeing what my clearance looks like.

Yep, it's a simple setup. Works fine for me....however, mine is not a daily driver so ground clearance is not an issue.

Do you know how much offset those collector extensions have heat seeker?? It looks like with about an inch less offset, and the collector on the header tweaked, they would clear the frame. Im not looking to run that big of exhaust anyway tho, My 10 series flows are 2.5".

It's the same ones in the link above, but a 3". Shouldn't be any rubbing issues with the smaller pipes. Also, if you look in the second pic, I used a hammer to tap in my tranny pan. It gave me better clearance.

Think thats what im gonna do then. I am picking up headers this afternoon. I have no idea what they are for, but i suspect they came off a 3rd gen. Look to be right anyway, i guess we will drop them in and see.
