4 inch muffler choice

I am about to start my exhaust build as soon as my trans is back from getting built. I'm researching mufflers and I'm looking at diesel mufflers as I havnt found much other than racing type mufflers. Has anyone used a diesel muffler in their build? I have 1 3/4 long tube headers and will make a 3 inch y to 4 inch single pipe. I'm looking for a good exhaust note but not too loud or raspy. The car is not a daily driver but a mix of street strip duty with some road trips along the way. I have read many threads and I'm not sure which mufflers I will be using any input is appreciated thanks.

Re: 4 inch muffler choice

I use mbrp diesel in mine. Sounds good, can fit 30" long in stock location

Dynomax ultraflo round 6" case in 4" dia and 16" long makes for a good muffler. Good noise reduction but if behind a hot motor like a 11:1 383 making 500 hp it still gonna be loud

I used this and mounted it where the stock muffler sat and then single 4" out.

LOVE IT! Much quieter than 2 3" Flowmaster mufflers, but screams at WOT

Re: 4 inch muffler choice

Hooker maxflow

Idle and part trottle is deep rumble cruising around town not loud at all or obnoxious
But when you want to wake up the neighbors and or show that ford or dodge or Honda what's the deal WOT screams im all about business and Chevy devil knocking on your rear end lol

Think perfect for street due to quiet idle and part throttle but good nice loud WOT tone as I don't want to sound like I'm going WOT all the time like a mufflex , low key and or loud when needed

Re: 4 inch muffler choice

I have a spintech and it is the best sounding muffler I have ever owned of any size. Not too loud and no annoying drone noise at a particular rpm like a lot of them have.

Re: 4 inch muffler choice

Another vote for the hooker maxflow muffler. It is hard to beat for the price. The only downside is that it is aluminized and not stainless, but very mild at idle, and opens up pretty good at WOT. I also ran a bullet muffler before the axle to prevent any drone as I was running ls manifolds at the time. I posted a video in other 4inch exhaust thread below this one.

I don't know I was thinking 3-4 clutches it's a fresh build its not a delay my only issue is 3-4 shift just revs up and when I lift it shift and Rpms are way high so I think 3-4 clutch slipping bad

Pm me don't want to distract from thread
