I don;t think having an opinion is insulting. I like the slp sound, my buddy has the two on the left system, it's pretty sweet. I'd get it but I want pipes that exit on both sides. They should have one but I can't seem to find it, I think I'll email dave...

For ***'s sake, grow up man. That has got to be one of the most ignorant things I have ever seen on this board. I have had both the Flowmaster Force II and the SLP catbacks. I loved the SLP sound but it was pretty quiet, which I preferred. The Flowmaster is pretty loud and has an annoying resonance at cruise but most "car guys" loved it. But then they didn't have to drive the car on a 75 mile commute. The Flowmaster has that low bass rumble while the SLP system has more of a raspy EFI noise to it. It's honestly boils down to personal preferance.

I second the SLP Catback system.

If those are the remarks of the Moderator, I think he should be
removed.

Yah, I'll second that on both counts... Tas' posts have been deleted so this thread can continue.

Who's the "f'n p.o.s." ? Here's a sound file of an SLP 2 on the left system.

https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/s...89ragtoprs.wav

That kind of gives you an idea of what it sounds like but it still doesn't do it justice.I wasn't very happy with the finish on the tailpipes of my SLP kit but some quick buffing fixed that. Other than that I loved it.

I have had the SLP catback system (dual exit/single side) and
a "performance" catalytic converter since my orginal exhaust
rusted out 5 years ago. The only regret is that the exit pipes
aren't polished or coated. Not sure if SLP has updated the design
in the past few years.

The best thing is that it doesn't sound like everyone's Mustang,
err...I mean Flowmaster exhaust. Not sure about Acceld Z's
comment about the SLP being quiet. It is plenty loud and very
throaty. Not "raspy" at all. The sound mellows out but still
drones at highway speeds in overdrive.

SLP hasn't changed the finish on the tailpipes. It's 409 so it polishes pretty easily though. Compared to the Flowmaster Force II I have now, the SLP was quiet. "Throaty" is kind of what I meant when I said "raspy". The SLP sound is unique. It has that EFI'ish sound rather than just noise for the sake of noise. I honestly never noticed any droning/resonance with my SLP kit.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I will try to explain it. The Flowmasters have a deep bass rumble noise while the SLP kit has kind of a burbly, snarly, growly exhaust note? Have you ever heard a 4th Gen car (probably)? The SLP sounds like that except with the bass and the treble turned up. It is still a deep tone but not like the Flowmasters. I expect those that have the SLP kit will swear by it and likewise those with the Flowmaster, DynoMax, Borla, etc. will do the same. Honestly, to make a decision, you would need to listen to a car with the SLP kit in person. Having owned both the SLP and Flowmaster Force II, I can say that I enjoyed the sound of the SLP more. That sound clip is from the audio section of this site. Perhaps you could e-mail the owner that sent it in. As for polishing the exhaust tips.........I bought 3 different grades of synthetic steel wool and scrubbed the pipes until they had kind of a dull lustre. Then I polished them with that cotton wadding that comes in the blue can. I can't remember what it's called at the moment. As I said I can only speak from my experiences. It's my opinion that the SLP exhaust has a more pleasing exhaust note than the Flowmaster Force II kit. I expect that if you where to dyno a car with each kit the Flowmaster kit would make more power (+5 HP, maybe). But, to me , that 5 hp is not worth having to live with the resonance. If SLP has another sale this winter, I'm going to sell my Flowmaster kit and buy another SLP kit I will however keep the Flowmaster dual cat y-pipe. That thing is a work of art.

I had the SLP on my Formula and I hated it, I could,ve bought a glass pack for $20. My Dynomax sounded better and it was $150.
The 3rd Gen F-Body (V-8) has a unique tone, the same with the LT1's. If your running a cat with it like I was it sounds alright but with no cat it sounds the same as a rusty old pick up.

gale banks power pack system.bought new in 88. enough packing in the muffler has deteriorated to make it a crisp and clean sounding un-efi brumble.specially 3k foot to the floor and on up. 400 ci sounds like a 1970 lt-1 the good compression year.(along with some other "goods" for 1970) i wish banks still made f-body stuff. just my 2 cents worth. still shines like new stainless though,a little dis colored on the inlet from heat.

That is a fairly accurate description. In home stereo speaker terms, the SLP has the punchy controlled bass sound like a Paradigm or B&W while the Flowmaster is a more saturated rumble like a Cerwin Vega.

Also, I would expect the general sound to vary somewhat depending on which engine you have, 305TBI vs 305TPI vs 350. My experience is with the 305TBI.
