IMHO: Either right after the headers for an exhaust dump for the occasional track use, or after the cat for the occasional street use.

It would be better for the environment after the cat. But it will be louder and less restrictive before the cat.

I have one before my cat. Its loud as crap. I only have it on occassionally just for fun, but when its on you have to be careful not to take the RPMs too high or everyone can hear your car

I have mine near the back of the car, after the cat. I only drive my car on nice weekends, but when I do I always leave it upcapped. Its not "that" loud. At Idle its nice, when your driving normally around 2K its not that loud. But when your getting on it at a high rpm its very loud.

I had to put it behind the cat because I had no room before it. I had it like this for about a half year now and I havent been stoped...yet

I like the way JZA put it, "Either right after the headers for an exhaust dump for the occasional track use, or after the cat for the occasional street use".

I put mine right at the 3" dump on the xover pipe.. then cat then muffler.. I haven't tried it uncapped yet.. but I was running my truck with just headers and xover for a few days and it was wayyy toooo loud and anoying.. nice at first but anoying after a few mins.. I also noticed a lot more bottom end with the exhaust hooked up.. I'm sure with the cut out there will be a little more back pressure than just an open x over though.. and the cut out points toward the ground so should be a little quiter... anyone know if you have to change the gasket on the cut out everytime you uncap and recap?

Nope not everytime, use your judgement and when its been use a few times and looks like it has wear on it then change it. Depending on how long your planning on having it capped, why even put a gasket on :lala:

I just had my 3in put on after the cats. I have passed several cops and none have given me any trouble. My car does run a little rough below 1500rpm so it makes my car sound junky instead of beastly. The cutout sticks out no lower than the stock catback pipe so there are no clearance problems like I thought.
