i have hooker headers...to no cats...to a flowmaster catback....i need a cat to pass inspection...any ideas?? I want to get a cat that i can unbolt and bolt in...I love the sound it has now (nocat)...and i dont want to loose the few ponies...any suggestions????

Im thinking about buying a cat...and swaping it out to pass inspection...then after inspection...take it out...

I just put a hi-flo on. You lose a couple of horses but you don't really notice. You can always just gut the cat and run a pipe through it to make it look like you have a cat

I hear catco makes some good quality hi-flo cats for a reasonable price.

I bought a catco slip fit 3" cat ($50.99 in Summit) and welded two headers flanges to it, and I welded two header flanges to a staright pipe. So now it only takes about 10 minutes to go from cat to no cat. VERY NICE! I didn't really want to go the hi-flow cat route and leave it on cuz it'd rob too much power on my motor....When you're pushing the power I'm gonna be pushing, everything becomes a restriction.

We gutted this one kid's cat on his Cherokee. 'High-Flow' mya$$, that honeycomb stuff is so thick I pointed the cat at the sun on a bright summers day and had no problems looking straight at the sun without squinting or going blind. High flow... LMAO

Random Technologies vs. Catco

How do Random Technologies high flow cats compare to Catco? (Besides obvious cost.) I'm looking at replacing my duals since cheaper replacements from Auto Zone went out after 23,000 miles. Not sure if some thing else would cause that. Regardless I just run street, no real racing and want something that will unhook a few ponies without removing the cats.

I have a Catco cat and it works fine, sounds great. I can't see that the Random Technologies cat is worth spending 4 or 5 times the money for a little performance difference. Either way, the Catco is much better than stock.

It has been astablished, on this board and in general, the catalitic converter's drain of HP in negligable all things considered. The stock muffler and manifolds are the real restriction if anything. One thing is true: if your cat(s) has a ship load of milles on it than it's a major restriction. Years and milles will clog them up. Also after installing fresh hi-flow cats on a modded engine as opposed to stock, they will clog much faster than stock. But it will take years for them to start robbing you of power.
