Not a feline!!!!!!!! I need a pic of a cat... because I cant tell if I have a cat or a muffler in the front of my car. It is one weird looking muffler if it is one!

 

I need a pic of a camera...because I can't tell if I have a camera or a CD player. It is one weird looking CD player if it is one.

Here ya go, . The cat will be right after your y-pipe not far from the front wheels. There should be a metal tube coming out the side of it. That's one of the hookups for emissions.

 

Ok.......... Well I can tell from the picture but doesnt your cat have an undercover with a bunch of holes on it??? If so then I dont have a muffler...................ILLEGAL!!!!! But isnt that Catback Exhaust??? OH hell I dont know?? Thanx Mark I knew you wouldnt have some Smartass coment LOL

if its under the passenger seat its a cat........if its back by the rear wheels its a muffler, a cat back exhaust is exactly that, pipe and muffler from the cat back..........if you have no cat it will just be straight pipe

 

Of course thats two cats you see in the pic above . Not all of our cars (camaros/firebirds) have dual cats . Mine doesn't of course b/c I have a V6 .Not all of the V8s do ;Im not real familar with which ones do and which ones don't . Just giving you some thirdgen knowledge to nibble on Don't let people discourage you from asking questions .

No problemo , I know how it is , I didn't come out my Mommy knowing all about cars . I did have some wierd fascination about wheels when I was young though . lol

 

Me neither, so I hit the library, bookstore, etc. Bought a Chilton's for my car and covered the basics. Upgraded to a Helms and really got into details. I then hit the aftermarket with Vizard and Baechtel's books on engine building, Herb Adams on handling, Paul van Valkenburg's book on racing car setup was a real score.

The result was that I shaved 3sec off my lap time at Pocono two weeks ago by applying what I had read. I set up a 20 year old car that runs low 13's @ 105mph on the strip, finished top 10 at Pocono, and passes NJ treadmill emission inspection...all on the same chip.

Ah well, if you want to get spoon-fed a little at a time I guess someone will indulge you here.

 

There's nothing wrong with learning from asking questions . Different learning styles for different folks . I, myself, learn both ways , from reading and asking questions .

well if the cat looks like a big flat like muffler i guess, then u got the *** old "pancake" cat. i had one on my car and that thing itself was a muffler. but now im very happy with my catco 3in cat and my Hooker catback. sounds great.

Hey, I agree, with minimal research the answer could probably have been found. However I remember the last time this board was torn apart by people flamespraying each other. When I see a post of dubious nature, I usually just click on to the next topic.
