PARTING OUT a 1991 Trans AM
Parting out my 91 Black Trans Am. 90K. 305 TPI, TH700R4. At the moment, it is complete and running. Engine has a low idle. Other than that is pretty decent. I don't need the car anymore because I bought a 1998 TA so I tried to sell it but no luck. Now, I need it gone (due to my landlord) so I have to resort to parting it out. The only items not any good is the headliner, dash pad, and drivers side door cup holder. Let me know what you need and an offer. Thanks.

Such a shame that a perfectly good, running TA is being parted out. CarMax or somebody else like that wouldn't take the car?

Re: PARTING OUT a 1991 Trans AM
Did the deal with 92GTA in your for sale thread not work out, or did you just not see it? I only ask because I can't stand to see such a good condition car being parted out, and it'd be faster to sell it whole then try and part it anyway. It's your car so of course you can do what you want, but it really would be a shame if you have to part it out!

Re: PARTING OUT a 1991 Trans AM
I did see it but the car can not be driven that far with the idle problem. You need to constantly do a brake stand when stopped to keep it running and if you do stall it often, after you restart it a certain amount of times it does nothing, no juice at all and then your stranded. A jump start does nothing so its a wiring problem apparently which really is too bad as the engine and trans runs and shifts like new.

Re: PARTING OUT a 1991 Trans AM
Can't agree with you guys more. Every time I take a part off it as the requests come in it's what I say to myself.... It does suck but I'm in a tough situation.....I tried selling it for a while here and on CL but the offers were all too low (only in the hundreds) for the car it is. At 2K I had it priced at a bargain, then I did "1500 weekend sale" (for many weekends) and still nothing. So, this is where we are at. Parts.....

Re: PARTING OUT a 1991 Trans AM
Yea I guess it's the regional area too. Over here a '91 or '92 Trans Am as complete as that one, even if it was just the 5.0 wouldn't last more than a week at 2 grand.
Way too easy to swap in a 5.7 and some badges and have a hell of a GTA.

Re: PARTING OUT a 1991 Trans AM
check for vacuum leaks, a hand held vacuum pump helps (Autozone loans tools), egr valve can be tested as well, possible diaphram in fuel pressure regulator is failing, best to read your diagnostic codes first, if you can't access a reader, you can jump two of the terminal in the plug under your dash, the check engine light will flash quickly, pause and then more slowly flash the code number, count the blinks, the dealer service manual breaks down possible promblem(s) and shows an outline of how to test for the problem. lots of simple things cheaply fixed, or your ecm has spit out the bit

How about the passenger side front bumper gfx? Was it sold with the front fender gfx stuff? If not what would you take for that? Does it have the stock radio?

Could you get pictures of the radio. I bet the piece that I want went to the person that wanted the front fender gfxs. I'll get pics of the piece that I'm talking about.

Re: PARTING OUT a 1991 Trans AM
This car is still nearly complete folks! Still runs and drives! At the moment im not selling anything that disables it. Waiting till the end for that stuff in case any one wants the motor or tranny and needs to test them before buying or wants to buy the whole thing to put back together as its currently still at 90+%. Id like to move it all at once if possible so make an offer!

Re: PARTING OUT a 1991 Trans AM
I would be interested in the entire top end TPI set up. I'd like to convert my 91 305 TBI to a TPI. Intake manifold up including the ECM/chip.
