Hey guys, I had a (pro) remove my original windshield from my car for my restoration, because i didnt want it all cracked up, well i should have done it myself, before i could say, please be careful, it looked like a frikin spider web. what does ppg meen? and whats the differance from a ppg and one that isnt?

 

It means Pittsburgh Glass, they were one the of original supplier for windshields back then, now they are PGW (Pittsburgh glass works) GM also used LOF which is Plinkerton now. So if you look on the pasenger side bottom of the windshield it will say PPG or LOF and my was a PPG and i am trying to keep my car as original as possible.

i have a 90 formula i'm parting. car is all original. i don't think the windshield was ever replaced. will it have the windshield you're looking for?

 

Yes i think camaro and firebird windshields are the same, and look and see if it says PPG or LOF on the passengers side bottom of the window. I would be interested if it is a PPG, and if it is in good shape, no scratches/wiper marks or delamination around the perimeter shading. You can text me @ 412-980-4979 are you close to PA?

 

some 3rdgens have the VIN etched/or printed on the windshield. my brothers 90' rs does. so wouldnt trydon,s 90' formula have it too??

 

No, none have them etched into the glass, windows can be replaced and they woudnt put vin # on them, they are all stamped on the inside, on a vin plate that is riveted on the cowl frame on the drivers side that has a area of the window that is not tinted so it can be viewed thru the windshield.

Hey guys, i have had no luck finding a PPG windshied for my restoration, but it turns out that i need a LOF windshield instead, because the rest of my glass is LOF which i just noticed, and i am trying to keep my car as original as possible.
