Functional Z28 hood scoops

The scoop is vacuum operated and opens when the engine starts. Definately an eye catcher!

Thanks, I'll take some more pics tomorrow. I used a cold start diaphram (the little round thingy off a stock air filter snorkel). The linkage was fabed up from some import FI linkage from a junk yard.

The cars not an every day driver, so I seldom drive in the rain. I can unhook a vacuum line and it will not open. I'll round up some more pics

Um, why not just use the setup from the early '80's 3rd gen Z28's? The crossfire cars were actuated by the ECM, on the carbed cars it was vacuum actuated (actually by lack of vacuum).

Last I heard most of the parts are still available from the dealer (at least if they know where to look, I know someone that works at one that just snagged all the parts to get the setup working on a friend's car for a birthday present...)

my 82 has the cross fire hood with the functional vents. I took them out though so my intake would have the clearance it needed. so i fabricated some screens to replace the vent flaps. it's now a full time ram air system...and yes, rain scares me
