You'll also notice the front roll cage bars running down over the tires. That's a tube chassis car. The tilt front end wouldn't work very well with a factory chassis. You still wouldn't be able to get over the inner fenders which are part of the front suspension.

You can do this on a factory car without a tube chassis. You have to cut the fender horiz. at the body line, and leave the bottom half
mounted. The hardest part is constructing a solid hinge. You also have to remove the crash bar.

I've seen this car up close. Those aren't roll cage bars coming out. The bars are chromemoly. They tie through the cowl area. The car doesn't have a roll cage yet. He fabricated a realy cool mounting area for the strut mounts. I think it's all tig welded. I thought it was pretty cool. The guy doing this seems to be very good at what he's doing. Not for me but very cool.

We trimmed the corners off the two battery boxes in the front.
It rotated on large pins I stole off dads tractor. That way the front would tilt or pull the pins and pull the whole thing off.

i was thinking about it and i dont think that front end would work very well if your car was lowered, the nose would just tilt into the ground. maybe im wrong but the nose on my camaro is 3 inches off the ground, unless the hinges moved the front end up as it opens.

I've seen that car before somewhere.... Actually mini-trucks sometimes add struts by putting a similar brace setup. AIM industries sells one. (although I'm not sure how credible they are).
If you could figure out a way to make the front hinges slide forward about 6 inches, you could do away with having to cut the front fender, but you'd have to do something custom with the ground effects.

i always wanted a forward tilt style hood but jeez that looks like it took alot of work. i give who ever did that props :golf clap:
any how does anyone think they could make a rendering of the hinge assembly that id like to see how it'd lift the hood. i'd love to do that with my car im just scared about cutting off the front end.
ill try figuring something out but i once again must say absolutly awesome.
o yeah and what about the coolant bottles and such ?

that's got four or five other shots of that particular car, including the hinge assembly and latch assembly
I've been searching for atleast a couple years for something like this and posted a while back about cutting away everything but the frame rails (and got many posts saying I had to go full tube). I've got no desire to have a tilt front end, but I desperately want to eliminate the inner fenders, it's just a much cleaner looking car.
How sturdy is the sheetmetal to the side of the cowl that the tubes are mounted to? If I go this route, I need to be fairly certain that it will hold up when the front wheels come back down.
If anyone else attempts this project before I get back to the US, I'd very much like measurements and angles for the tubes.
