You can find a 3-4" spacer that fits under the filter housing on many 70's and 80's pickups

are you wanting it to flair out from 5 1/8 to the id of your 14" filter? And if so how tall do you want the piece to be? If you just wanted it to go straight up which i guess that you don't cause that is basically what the setup that you have now looks like. It will take some time and a lot of patience, but if you can find some light gauge sheetmetal (like the kind late models and modifieds use) or aluminum you can fab up a piece, just roll it in the shape of a funnel, and mig, or tig it together then, cut out the section that you need to reach the diameters that you need, You need to have a close idea of what height that you need so you can change the angle of your roll accordingly. It will definetely take some time to make a transition that large. Good Luck!

i think i can do it but i will need a tig welder and they are currently way outta my price range at least until i finish school but i could use oxy i just havnt dont it in a while it think im just gonna find an old air claner base at the bone yard use the piece to go around the carb and the piece to mount the filter and make the rest it might not be to hard once i get the time im pretty good at forming sheet metal i just gotta get a good torch set

It wouldn’t be that hard to spin something like that, but it would take one big lathe and pattern to spin something that large.

What is the point anyway?

Yes, a nicely radiused inlet like that does work, but the filter will act as a much smaller cross section then the opening unless the filter was HUGE so you’re pretty much wasting your time, unless this is all an appearance thing.

spinning on a lathe IS a way of forming sheet metal, it's about the only way to form something nice and smooth like that.
