using the cowl on the factory hood????
I want to use it like in this thread, but the only difference is the engine. My intake is on the front of the motor, and i was wondering if people could help me brainstorm some idea's here. I am using an ls1 motor. Thanks for any help in advance.

What about something like this mounted over the engine near the firewall.

That might work, but the tubing would have to be a little different. My throttle body is farther forward, and would have to routed back to where the opening is in the formula hood. Where did you get the pics from, is it something you can buy, or did you make it?

same concept as that, but the opening in the hood is onthe drivers side by the windshield. (formula hood) I would have to find a way to get the filter sealed off, and plumb the intake tube to get there too.

You could always fiberglass a tunnel into the hood. Make it 12-18" wide, and 1.5-2" thick, and have it gather the air from the cowl, then run to the front of the hood, where you could use an airbox like abocve, thats made for the Ram Air hoods.
If you can get a shot of an SS hood off of a newer camaro, you can kinda see what im talking about. Basicly its all done in the hood, and when you pop it, it looks nice and clean under it
Only problem is getting the air to channel its way to it. As you want it to be the high pressure air, is moving to the low pressure area of the filter, so that the motor does not have to draw air in, but simply take in whats there. Personnaly i would do a RA1 hood, with the above airbox, it will be the best power wise, and simplicity, just not the cheap route.

I came up with an idea to make a smooth tube from the throttle body to up where the opening in the hood is, and use a whisper lid from a 4th gen that is atached to the hood upsidedown somehow with the same k&n filter that the lid uses, I don't know if it will work, but I have a lid and filter, all I would need to do is run the tube. What do you think?
