yikes! you know i went and looked at your cardomain and the car looks like it's really coming along and i think that you can do quality work, but that steering wheel is just not gonna belong in your car. don't throw it out though, it would go really well in a dune-buggy/Mad-Max-Mobile if you ever wanted to build one!

If you get rear-ended or something thats gonna mess you up bad.. but yeaa a dune buggy or something would make good use of that wheel

I'll reserve judgement until it's completed. The center section looks like it came out good, and the rest is obviously unfinished. are the horn buttons coing to be right on the top of the left and right grips?

I just threw up in my mouth Please dont use that wheel!! if you really wanted to use that wheel please at least send it to some place that can put some padding and leather on it, the electrical tape screams trash.

its kinda neat, ive not seen anyone make there own steering wheel before, I couldnt imagine wanting to use it to actually drive with though, and it looks incredibly dangerous with sharp metal flames sticking out the top

yes the horn buttons are going to be on the tops where the wires are sticking out. and know it isnt going to have black tape on it. if you could read i said i am not finish with it, i am goin to cover it with leather and have the flames air brushed. its just like a knight rider wheel whats wrong with that? just cause it not on tv? i may not like it once i finish it, At least i am giving it a shot. lets see your wheel you made, does it looks better than the one i made? Mr. I just threw up? for those that dont like it, thats fine, thanx 4 your opinion, you dont have to worry though, you will never have to drive it lol thanx 4 all the input.

LOL no im sorry I never atemped to make a steering wheel but if you look though my pics on my site you will find a bunch of custom piece including battery hold downs, STB, dual exhaust, console and gage plates, even my mufflers. so theres nothing wrong with fabing up your own stuff but damn dude dont show us a half assed wheel and expect us all to love it! you posted it on here so odviously you wanted some sort of attention. what you should have done is posted it once it was finished or at least used the pic without electrical tape all over it.

just my opinion but i don't even like the wheel used on the knightrider car, a steering wheel should be round but it would look good on a gokart or whatever. how are you planning on mounting it on the steering column? does the metal plate with the flames on it come off so you can mount it?

Not sure about where you live but that wont pass inspection and the police may not like it either. As far as I know federal regulation states all steering wheels have to be round and a minimum of 12" (maybe 13") in diameter.

Now that is out of the way, I dont like it but I would like to see what it looks like in leather or something but that plate has to go

+1 for originality. i have never been a fan of the "yolk" style wheels, but it looks neat. i would not put it in my car, but nice job. can't wait for a finished picture.

and to the guy who said it would mess him up if he got rear ended.... think about that. the back of your car gets hit so you fly forward? no, the car moves forward and you are slammed into the back of the seat. i have been rear ended once. (in a 91 buick park avanue) i saw it coming and put my head flat agianst the seat back. (highbacked buick seats. yay for BOP!) and i never had any neck/back pain.

if you hit somthing, even with a seatbelt your body may fly into that fancy metal work. that might screw you up BAD. you know what that means... cage/5point time

anyway, good luck on the project. making your own wheeel is huge. nice job so far.

Sorry nobody likes my idea, I like it and My old lady likes it thats all that matters to me. I may change the center flames, put a round planet over them when i get them air brushed i'll think of somethin. At least now you have a better idea what it's gonna look like. Thanx 4 all the input..

you'd think in the Fabrication forum of all places, that people wouldn't mistake work-in-progress pictures for a finished product... especially when it's written clearly in the original post! Opinions are fine, like it or not,but it's pretty bad when people think his finished steering wheel was going to be wrapped in electrical tape. I wouldn't want that wheel myself, and i think a smooth leather wrap would've looked better than the one chosen, but I alteast read his post first and didn't knock him for posting in-progress pictures.

Thondor-
Cool idea, it just didnt pan out for you in my opinion. But hey, if we knew for sure what everything was going to turn out like, how boring would that be? You attempted something new, i gotta give you props for that. If you like it, thats all that matters.

Tricked-out-toy and Dialed_in-
Damn guys i know it looks bad but j*sus this guy is a new member and we shouldnt rag on him THAT hard. I mean we can tease him a bit but thats just mean! Like i say, i know its hideous but at least he tried something new! Nothing personal....

My Opinion-
Looks like some kind of S&M toy....not my cup of tea. Plus with a yolk style wheel its gonna be hell driving around a parking lot. And those flames just scream dangerous......

Hey if this guy is happy with it, who are we to complain?
