What you guys think of my custom exhaust?

Hey I got had nothing to do so I made my other 85 Z LT1 tips in the bumper just like my 88 Twin T Z. I think this one came out nicer.

What are some opinions ?

Judging by the black soot on the bumper, the engine might need a little tuning and/or the tips need to set out another 1/4" or more.

I'm not real crazy about the squareness of the notches for the tips. To me, there needs to be a bit of a radius in the corners and tips, not quite so square,

Yeah, i think i need to set the tips out a little more. It turns black in 2 weeks from how rich the motor runs, but the engine loves running rich. Its boosted with a Vortech.

Re: What you guys think of my custom exhaust?

Yeah no engine likes running rich but if your boosted its safer to run rich than lean.
Running rich= bad smell exhaust, loss of top end HP, dirty oil, washed cylinder walls, black soot on bumper, cooler running engine, pre worn rings

Running lean with boost= detonation, hotter running engine, less torque, holes in pistons, shattered rings, blown headgasket, melted plug electrodes, less timing.

Thats why I run slightly rich. Remeber, fuel has 3 purposes, ignite to create burn creating power, clean the engine, and cool the engine.

i like the idea, dunno if I'd ever do it though.

I always wondered what round tips would look like doing that though. Half in half out, sorta like GT mustangs have, not the newer model the one before it.

Re: What you guys think of my custom exhaust?

The rubbing has more to do with the routing, the lack of clearance between the floor and the pipe.

Instead of getting the exhaust redone, You might consider urethane motor & tranny mounts. They will reduce the amount of flex in the drivetrain.

Worst case, and if it is a track only car, solid motor mounts, for NO flex.
