Made me an A/C Delete Plate!

Well I couldn't find anyone who sold a delete plate so I built my own out of .100 aluminum and painted it! I think it came out well and I used all of the factory A/C attachment points and only needed to drill three other holes. I made it to cover ALL the holes! Even the heater core and A/C wiring hole. Let me know what you think!

Here it is raw before painting and after a little prep work.

Here it is all painted up.

And, here it is on the firewall.

if it was to be welded on there's a very slim chance of ever reinstalling heat and air if he ever decided he wanted to go back

Yea, I have some that I will be putting in there on final assembly, they have a black anodized coating! The rest of the car has not been repainted yet and I don't want over-spray on them!

Re: Made me an A/C Delete Plate!

looks awesome. Most people put it on looking bare aluminum, looks good also.

I was going to go the same route, but i decided not to when i went to the dragstrip at night. The cool night air made the windows fog up, and it sucked goin down the track.

But depending on ur climate you might like it just like that.

Re: Made me an A/C Delete Plate!

Thanks! I like it... I've never had any problems in the past but we will see. And did I mention I painted it all (even the engine bay) with a rattle can! HaHa... We'll see how long it lasts!

Am I the only one who can't see the original posters pics?
Also, aluminum plate is notoriously difficult to weld to sheet metal in our cars...

Re: Made me an A/C Delete Plate!

Ah, after viewing source, it appears the first poster used image shack (blocked here at work), while Lotus used photobucket which isn't blocked.
Maybe I should get back to work...

Re: Made me an A/C Delete Plate!

what about fabricating a plate to also hold the heater blower motor? i havent been behind the box yet to see what its all about but i was reading a posting on here before and IIRC they talked that you cant just take a NON' a/c box and bolt it in place of your a/c box..tell me im wrong

Street sign ea! Looks pretty good! Didn't think of that. I did think of using some black plex. glass but when I picked it up it was extremely heavy. I think it would have been harder to paint as well.

Re: Made me an A/C Delete Plate!

You can use a non A/C heater box on an originally A/C car but, for what they seem to be running price wise I could fab my own out of aluminum with a sheet metal bender and a little welding.

Yep, rattle can paint. I got it mixed at O'Reilly Auto Parts. All I did was give them my paint code and they mixed the paint and put it in the cans for me. I was impressed at how well the paint sprayed to be honest. I needed to repaint the engine bay before the engine went in anyway, so I figured I would give it a try. If it didn't look decent then I would just paint it Black. Thanks for the comments!

It cost $12-$13 a can, but it depends on the color.

Re: Made me an A/C Delete Plate!

don't have pics but i did a swap with the s-10 heater box got it cheap. $30. but you have to use the fan that is in it or for an s-10 they bolt up different than the camaro fan. the box bolted up great just different holes. so i used self tapping screws.. i'll post some pics soon
