Re: pinto rack

Most aftermarket k members have options of rack
They dont put them on there for free thou

The brackets are very simple, do it yourself

Re: pinto rack

buy the racecraft bumpsteer kit as well.
its a bad boy for the price.
comes with FK rod ends. anodized black too. much more nie than most of the kits for similar prices. i am very happy with their service and pricing.

pinto rack and the bumpsteer kit. i cut my steering arm off to match that of a mustang unit. ill admit from a dead stop, its harder to turn the wheel than an s10 manual box, but with my arm cut i have my turning radius back. about 80% of it anyway. car doesnt turn bad at all.

the pinto rack would only be last resort, serious mod for weight reduction, IMO.
i saved 34 pounds in hard parts alone. i didnt weigh the bag of bolts that were removed, or the fact i saved some weight with a custom steering shaft.

with a stock steering arm, it will prolly steer fine, there will just be no turning radius.
i wouldnt suggest a rack unless its a serious street/strip car.

the arm the tie rod hooks to off the spindle. its too long, or the rack doesnt have enough travel, whichever way you want to look at it.
i DO NOT ADVISE you do this mod to a stock spindle if you carve corners.
for a weekend car/strip car, its more than strong.
racecraft offers a nie spindle with a shortened arm, but they are 550.00, respectfully. i didnt want my car lowered 2" so i passed on them.

2nd to last pic you can see where i cut the arm and welded on a steel bushing.
