This hood started out as a 6" cowl hood from Harwood. I cut it down to 3" and boxed in the underside so it seals against the air filter base making it a functional cowl hood.
The front fenders are my biggest challenge as the wheel opening has been moved forward 5" and flared out 2". Also notice the large uneven gap between door and fender.
To fill the gaps I cut patch panels out of another set of fenders. I used panel bond to attach the panels to eliminate welding and warping the metal more than it is already..
After lots and lots of body filler and sanding the fenders are starting to take shape. I'm excited about how the flare is taking shape. Its looking like how i had imagined it would be.
Followed this for long time. How is the body paint prep going?
Tex WS6, good to hear from you again. The bodywork is coming along, but much slower than I'd like. I'm not very good at it, as i put too much filler on, sand too much off, and then have to do it over again and again. But I do have the doors, hood, deck lid and front fenders smoothed out and in primer. I started a new thread called "home brew resurrection" that I've posted the bodywork photos to, but it's not quite up-to-date either.
Like so many other times during this build, it's been put on hold for medical issues again. For years I've suffered from arthritis pain in my neck, spine, arms and hands, and its got to the point where medical intervention was needed. This past November I had major reconstructive surgery on my right wrist, and am just now getting back partial use of it. I plan on being back in the garage and hard at it by the 1st of February.
there will be more soon, as I have been recovering from surgery to my right wrist. I had started a new thread here called "homebrew roadracer resurected" to try and draw attention to the build again. That has more of the updated info posted there.
So I've been working on the bodywork for the last few months and have made real progress. The fenders and doors were sent to the painters last week and the hood, deck lid, bumpers and numerous small exterior parts are at the painters now. After seeing the doors and fenders painted I was very excited. I bought this car after it had been wrecked in the front, so I've never seen it in a finished state. Here's some pictures of my progress so far.
After many hours of shaping and sanding, i finally have my modified fenders looking presentable. These doors were kicked and dented badly. Getting them back straight and recreating the belt line was a major chore.
It's finally painted!!! I'm really pleased with how it turned out. It's far from finished but this is a big step forward. It looks very close to how I envisioned it when I first started planning this build.
Nice! That stretch actually looks pretty decent. Nice work. What are those headlights? Not that I'd install them on our original B4C car, but they look cool, just the same.

The car isn't any longer than stock, just the front wheels moved 5" forward in the fender. The headlights are from a 1991 Lumina APV van.
