has anyone put neon lights engine bay?

Hi guys! was wondering if it was possible to hook up neon lights to run off the engine revs? like a timing light, but if i an at a stop they would be dimmed and as the car moves it gets brighter. Its for the hood i got, and wanted to do something different. any help would be great. thx

The output voltage of the alternator is regulated.

Re: has anyone put neon lights engine bay?

the only thing i could think to do would be to tap into wiring for a fuel injector to make it pulse with the injector. but that would obviously be pulsing instead of working like you want

buy a couple of cheap timing lights, hook them up and duct tape them underhood.

I've seen kits for sale (geared towards crotch rockets and ricers) but they are little audio sensors that listen to the motor and the louder it gets the brighter the lights get. You can even set them to change colors at different RPMs. Haven't run across them in a while but I did see them back when I had my bike.

Re: has anyone put neon lights engine bay?

I got a bunch of strip lights from a parts car I had awhile back and was thinkin of using a few in the engine bay as lights. They are pretty thin and will fix under the lip where the fender attaches to. I might do a few on my sub box too.
