Re: Camaro with a Targa top.....

Been done before. I think the guy from CE Coatings had basically a build guide in the fabrication section 5+ years back or so. Here's some basic info.

Re: Camaro with a Targa top.....

If you think that's dangerous, you think convertibles are dangerous due to NO fixed roof compared to SOME fixed roof. The T-bar isn't much structure to remove.

Its not like the A-pillar provides ANY roll over protection anyways. those A-pillars would collapse like a coke can. The T-bar would only keep the middle from immediately collapsing.

The B-pillar is what would have to hold most of the weight, and honestly having seen some pics I don't think it would hold all that much. Makes me want a Roll-bar. Thirdgens would just about fail every crash safety test if compared with current standards. Thats the way it always is.

Though, at least our thirdgens have better crash standards than those Chinese cars and trucks. Might as well have a claymore mine built into the head rest. In case of accident it explodes making sure you don't feel any pain from the crash cause your head is pulp. You wouldn't survive anyways, might as well make it painless.

Re: Camaro with a Targa top.....

I'd rather stick with my T-Tops, actually if I knew what pain in the *** the tops were I would have bought a hardtop!

Re: Camaro with a Targa top.....

I owned a Vette for a few years, and while the targa was nice when out, removing it and putting it back in sucked. On a hot day, it got so hot and was so awkward to move around it just made me cranky.

My next Vette will be a convertible.

For my Fbody, t-tops are just fine.

I think that one up top may be DIW. This one looks much nicer.

FWIW I still like the idea.

That car is either a custom hardtop chopped car or a C&C T-Topped car... Just an FYI.

Re: Camaro with a Targa top.....

i actually think i'm going to take on this challenge, honestly. i love the Targa Top, Considering the C6 in my garage has it. It gives the Camaro a completely different look, but i'll have subframe connectors and running a 6pt. cage.

Does your dad let you drive the Vette? I'd get used to taking the top on/off in the sun before you decide to do it to the Camaro. I know I got sick of mine real quick.

normally whenever i want, along with the other cars. the vettes got 444rwhp. 150 with the tops out is quite the sound, cant lie. feels like youre in an air plane. i just love the look, so when i get the car where i want i plan on doing the modification.
