I've been searching the TGO forums (and online) for a few hours looking for an answer on this: Considering the rarity of 1982 door sills and their popularity in 4th gen seatbelt mods, has anyone yet:
Recorded the measurements of the original door sill plates
Drafted in the parts into any CAD software such as Solidworks or AutoCAD
Fabricated replacement plate(s) out of aluminum or stainless steel
I've seen custom aluminum 83-92 door sills, but these are incompatible with the seatbelt mod, as a gap remains on the floor. If any member is aware of the recorded draft dimensions that would be absolutely ideal.
Agreed. Unfortunately, I don't have the measurements of the '82 sill plates for the cutouts (which as i understand are otherwise identical to '83-'92 plates). I'm interested having a set machined out of stainless plate on a CNC with the '00-'02 Trans Am logo locally here, but with the car in storage until April I don't have any reference plates for mounting holes and dimensions. Likewise, with the relative rarity of '82 parts, it's not easy to pick up a set for measuring either.
as well as a backlit set I can't seem to find right now. I'm hoping someone has already gone through the trouble of measuring these. It's easy for me to post the .part or .dwg files back up on the forum when finished for when this topic comes up again.
I have a set of brand new stainless sill cover plates. I bought here years ago. Never installed. One still have the wrapping on it and the other I removed it as I was going to fabricate them again. Any interest in the set that I have now?
