Re: Built another set of sub-frame connectors

Are you running a Borg Warner 9 bolt? If so what luck have you had and how much power are you running? Just put one in my 87 f/b with 383 stroker. Power is roughly 500/500

Re: Built another set of sub-frame connectors

roaddogscycles, don't know who your question is pointing towards?
Is the 9 bolt stock? Or does it have a spool, gears & aftermarket axles?
If it's stock. .. no way will it live with those power #'s .
If it's built ( aftermarket stuff), it should live at those #'s.
If you plan on upping the power ( nos, supercharger or turbo ), not for long.
A Dana 44 built can safely go 9's (1/4 eta ), if you want more / faster , Moser 12 bolt, ford 9", strange s60, etc...
Hope this helps

Re: Built another set of sub-frame connectors

The rear end in mine is stock, 9 bolt out of a Camaro. If I'm not mistaken the 9 bolt rear end comes with Dana 44 axles. I'm unable to get traction so I'm sure the rear end will last until I start hooking up, I also put a stage 2 clutch only good to 450h/p and sometimes I smoke that thing so that is my weak link so. I'm just wondering what some people have put behind these things and are they holding up or not?

Re: Built another set of sub-frame connectors

LOL, I hear you. ... sounds like you need some help tuning the suspension. Put 90/10 Lakewood drag struts up front, softer rear shocks , 28 inch tall slick (as wide as you can ), a good torque arm & LCA'S, set your pinion angle at about 2° down (make very small adjustments, on my friends drag/street car he found his best was 1.76° down ), every car will be slightly different, and when you can put some gear in it (your stock setup is probably a 3.23-3.42), your going to want at least a 3.73-3.92.
Good luck

Re: Built another set of sub-frame connectors

Yea I'm starting to do the suspension stuff real soon, my stock gear in the 10 bolt rear end was2.73, the 9 bolt is 3.27 but your right I want at least 3.73, I just want to work on stiffening the unibody prior to getting traction or I will tweak the car. My passenger door already doesn't want to open hahah. Thanks for advise really appreciate it!!

Re: Built another set of sub-frame connectors

Hey, absolutely no problem. Take it to a body shop & put it on a frame machine, get her straight before you do subframe connectors. ..or it'll never be right.
Everyone has an opinion, mine. ... I'm running UMI Performance products (mainly).
