Hood exit exhaust?
Ok, so this is just a wild idea I had while prepping my GTA hood for paint. How crazy would it be to have 8 individual hood exit exhaust pipes coming through the rear vents on the hood (4 on each side)? I know it wouldn't be very functional and the engine bay might look like a hot mess, but for a drag car, especially with nitrous, it would be insane to see. What do y'all think? Future fab project? Or are there any artists out there that do renderings?

I think you should put a carbon monoxide detector in the cabin. But it would be pretty wild in the 'car make purple flames go fast I need attention' sort of way.

If you're asking if it's cool to route exhaust out the hood the answer is no. But as soon as you mention 'drag car' everybody immediately lowers their standards for some reason and nods their head yes. I don't get it.

would be absurdly loud and would probably smoke out the cabin with co2. Would honestly be embarrassing on an engine making less than 800hp. even on an all out drag car I don't see any benefit over just dumping them out the fender.

Or you can build a set of hood zoomies from a kit

Re: Hood exit exhaust?
Due to limited space under our cars, large exhaust is very difficult to fit. My BBC has 2-3/8" primary tubes that go into 4" collectors. There are two 90 degree bends to bring the exhaust out to the rockers and through a pair of Magnaflow race mufflers. A 45 degree bend to angle the exhaust out from under the car. Unclamping the exhaust from the collectors takes 45 pounds off the car if I want to run with no exhaust but it's too loud. At least with mufflers, my ears are not ringing after a day of racing.
A better solution is custom turbocharger style headers that go forward into collectors then exit through the fenders in front of the front tires. It's possible to build a custom set to exit behind the front tires but there's a lot of work to get them over the front frame rails and through the inner fenders.
No matter how you do it, something that isn't a standard shorty or long tube header isn't going to be cheap and mild steel headers are crap unless you get them coated.
