WTB: Iron Duke Firebird.
Stick preferred. If you've got one for sale, let me know.
Re: WTB: Iron Duke Firebird.
Just pick up a 260 HP turbocharged LNF Ecotec from a Chevy Cobalt or Pontiac Solstice GXP if you want to mess with a four banger, and drop one of them in a 'Bird. GM has a turbo upgrade kit for them that's supposed to produce 290 HP and just under 350 LB-FT of torque.
Think about how neat that would be. A fancy DOHC direct injected 260 HP turbocharged 2.0. Best part is, the Solstice GXP has an FR layout, which means you could use their trans, an Aisin AR5 5 speed.
But realistically, good luck with finding an iron duke.

Re: WTB: Iron Duke Firebird.
have what you might be looking for---82-white t top auto,though--motor removed w/trans and all accessories still attatched-also have the rad shroud set up--call me on the weekend if you are interested--was going the pro street-big block direction but barely got started, then bought a 92 tpi 350 formula--needs fenders and hood and would be complete. all interior complete except for a/c stuff in the firewall. good clean body. has a 9 inch ford in it now--that doesnt go with the car-blue gut. call if you need some of it or all of it---kevin

Re: WTB: Iron Duke Firebird.
Chazman: Good for you. Iron Duke is a requisite component to complete 3rd gen collection.
They do come up for sale occasionally. The good news is that they are frequently estate sale, honest-to-goodness little old ladies cars, and they actually really did just drive them church on Easter Sunday. A manual transmission would be the elusive one to seek out. Just make sure you get one that plays the part. You know - roll up windows, wire wheels, no spoiler or T top. A/C would be acceptable for this configuration, but it would also be ok without.
Hope you find it, take your time and it will appear.

Actually, I'm pretty full up with 3rd gens right now. But........if I ever run across an Iron Duke 3rd gen, sitting in the back of some little old ladie's dusty garage, well........
