can anyone tell me what gear ratios came in the rears of 85 TA's and if they made any posi's or not

 

I have the Borg-Warner 9 bolt 3.27 and its posi.
Check the tech section or a haynes maual for all the ratios and rpo codes .

 

Rear depends on the enigne but 4 different rearends were available. they where 3.08 , 3.23 , 3.42 , 3.73. The 3.73 where only available in the H.O. 305. All where available with disc brakes but none had a true posi just limited slip.

 

According to my 1985 PMD Merchandiser for 85 TRANS AMS:

POWER TEAMS TRANNY / FINAL DRIVE

RPO VIN AVAIL. 5 SPEED AUTO

LG4 H STD 3.27 OPT. 3.08

L69 G OPT 3.70

LB9 F OPT 3.27
OPT 3.45

 

My 85 LB9 had the 9-bolt with 2.77 posi diff.

Well my matrix didnt load like I thought, kinda hard to read.

My book could be wrong about the axles.

It appears that the only tranny on the HO mill was a 5 speed, is that right ?

The '85 LG4 I used to have had a 3.08 posi.

 

yeah alot of 85's got 3.08 posi, was pretty common that year i have found

selling or trading 84 Z28 for chevy full size pickup or blazer, etc, 700r4, 305HO, 3.73 rears, needs paint and other stuff, but runs and drives well., grd efx, 5 stars, etc i figure its worth about 900 how it is right now,
anyone interested ?
