"WS1" option code!!!

Ok guys!
I've been a big Firebird nut since high school. That was 12 years ago.
I finally bought a 88 Formula with a 305 TPI and 4 speed auto trans for $1000 and all it needs is alittle TLC. I have fixed and restored some cars in the past I intend to build this car right.

The question I have is what is the "WS1" code. It isn't listed on this sites' RPO decoder. But it's listed on the Formula site as a "T/A perfomance package" What could this mean?

The crazy thing is that my car has the two tone paint delete code and this car is fitted with T/A ground effects with matching front and rear T/A bumpers. These are all factory and the fenders include the air extractors on the sides too.
I assumed that someone had the ground effects put on from a donor car, but I remember this same car being on a car lot in 1992 with the same ground effects. I know Formulas have NEVER had ground effects, but could this be a special order that someone had in 1988.
This car has the aluminum driveshaft, 3.23 limited slip w/ drum brakes. I don't see it as being rare, but the ground effects have me puzzled.

Any ideas?

thanks

Do you have WX1?? Because that is the "2 tone paint delete code."

I saw one like that on the road today. This makes the second one I have seen. It had all the exterior T/A appointments like taillights, fender holes, ground effects, etc. But the hood was a Formula hood. Car was maroon.

The other one I saw a while back I believe was a GTA that looked totally stock except the Formula hood. Car was beige or off white.

The only third gens that ever had BOTH ground effects and the bulge hood both from the factory was the 1984 Trans Am and the 1983 Daytona 500 Pace Car, and the ground effects weren't mandatory on the 84, they were optional. Also they were totally unique to the 84 T/A and 83 Daytona and the front fenders are the old 82-84 style. It completely changed in 85.

No Formula came with ground effects as far as I know. If one gets proven to have come that way, it's a collector's item.

Thanks for the replies!
The car is a true 88 Formula. It has the hood bulge with the matching decals under the hood(1988). It has the LB9 TPI 305 engine, the vin # says it's a firebird/formula model. (1G2FS21F4JL245181)

The RPO codes has no listing of a WS9 or WS4 codes. It has the WX1 paint delete along with with the WS6 perfmance package.

The doors have the original tags on the jam area and the doors have the holes to fit the ground effects on the lower door edges. Another thing is that the holes are slotted(like a factory slot) and not drilled.
Also the car has no code for driving lights and the car is NOT equipped with them. The nose has open holes where the driving lights should be.

It has me wondering!!!!

Thanks

If you have WS9, it is a Formula
If you have WS4, or VIN has FW87, it is a Trans Am

If you have WS9, apparently one of the previous owners swapped the front clip along with adding the ground effects. Do you have the hood bulge?

Im not sure If I understand this option matrix, I have WS1 but do not have power locks. I have everything else but my radio is a UT4.
