91 & 92 Firehawk Milage Q....
91 & 92 Firehawk Milage Q....
My 91 Firehawk #003 has a little over 1,300 original miles on it. I'm trying to find out if it is the lowest milage 91/92 Firehawk in existance.
I know #026 has about 17K and #022 has about 20K. #001 has about 11K and #024 has about 6K, #006 has about 6K too. I know #011 has more than mine too. What about the others?
I'm asking because it's the difference between driving my car on weekends and going to the dragstrip and all that other good stuff OR leaving it parked and hardly ever taking it outside to see the light of day and just preserving it.
Basically if it is the lowest milage I'll just preserve it and save up for another Firehawk to drive that already has about 15-20K miles, that could take a few years but I just can't bring myself to driving the heck out of the lowest milage hawk. If it's not the lowest, then I will drive it and enjoy it.

Sure I'm going to drive it, as a matter of fact I'm taking it for a spin (nice pun huh) tomorrow.
I don't know, call me sick but I freakin enjoy just looking at it admiring what it is and it's beauty as much as driving it. If it is the lowest milage though, it won't be seeing the road much......

Cars are MEANT to be driven!
I say let the puppy out on the best days...weather perfect, no clouds...or few, etc.
The incentive to preserve is somewhat valid, but maintenance is a pain on lubrication and electrical when a car just sits for far too long.
I couldn't give up the fun of actually driving the damm thing!
hehe

Right said. Rare or not drive the ***** off that thing! You're lucky enough to have found and purchased the fastest 3rd gen and one of the fastest muscle cars of all time!
By the way, nice collection! Did you rob a bank or something?

It is the fastest 3rd gen I think. It will do 12's with slicks and good driver to shift. Can a bone stock TTA do that? Nope, only about a 13.2 at best from what I hear....

Yeah, drive the hell out of it. In 10 years when all 25 firehawks have over 100k miles and all the cars are just a distant memory, we can all sit around and tell war stories.
I'm all about driving a car, but some are just a tad too special/rare to use up. There's a million f-bodies out there that you can thrash on, but there's only 25 Firehawks.

I think you should keep it a low miler. Think about it.. what exactly did the previous owner do to make it such an awesome and super find for you? The answer is he didn't drive it but he kept it stored. If everyone drove the hell out of their cars, they'd all be used up already and all the musclecar hardasses would have no choice but to drive some shiny-happy 90s/00s FWD non-sedan non-coupe crapbox because that's all there would be left. 15,000 average a year for 10 years would mean all firehawks would have around 150,000 miles and all TTAs would have around 195,000, therefore many being goners. some cars are too important to drive the hell out of. nobody would be lusting after the firehawk racecar on ebay in 2002 because it would've long since be junked and parted out, years ago. but they're doing just that, because someone cared to keep it alive. there would be no original ones left if they were all daily drivers, and they'd all be K-Mart hodge-podges, which I see more of than originals. So I say keep it as it is now. Since you were lucky enough to find your dreamcar in pretty much the best condition anyone could hope for, I think it's your responsibility to keep it going so others can enjoy that unique part of history when you do occasionally take it out, till you're an old geezer, then maybe you can pass it on to a child if the child is a car freak, or it can double as an investment if you ever have to sell, which I hope you don't!

Well I just remembered that #027 has like 7 miles on it and another car has less than 100 so mine is not the lowest. I'm just going to enjoy it, if one year I put 2K miles and one year I put 200, it doesn't really matter to me. I will keep it perfect and low milage though....
Thanks for all of your thoughts!

mileage
After the last two, you know the answer is probably to just keep everything well maintened and don't abuse it TOO much...but you HAVE to drive it...for me, there's no question there.
I think it's an obviously hard decision to store a car for value and worth, as I just saw a 25th Anniversary Countach on eBay that was a right hand drive ... still no one bought it up, but the only miles on it were from the factory test drive in ITALY!!!!
Sweet ride, no doubt...but will it ever be driven again!?!?

92GTA, I really have to disagree with what you are doing. Yes you had the money to buy the car, so it is yours. However, it is not the fastest Fbody! Why would you BEAT a car when only 25 were made? It is one of the highest respected F-bodies! Yet you want to drag it? Why??? If you want to run 12's go buy a '02 Hawk, that will run a 12.7 all day long on street tires! Why not build up, a run of the mill Z28? I guess you can only beat the best huh? I guess money shows you can buy anything regardless of having half and ounce of brains. "I don't have the lowest mile Hawk (1of25) so lets run it at the track on the weekend??? If you that proud about being able to spend your money on a extremely rare Firehawk, why don't you spend some of it purchasing a drag car? It is not a race car but a street car. Or better yet hell there is the only Firehawk race car going through on ebay. Why not spend the $15k on that and race an actual race car
You are not *** and can't turn back time nor the miles! Taking it out for a weekend drive maybe, but do not drag the car or drive it a alot. If that is what you want to do, please sell the car to a collector who will respect it. Very few people would even know what car you are driving around in, after all a 12yr old firebird. Buy a 4th gen Hawk and get more looks, be more drivable, and will be faster!

Dude, I'm sorry but you need to just shut the F--- up!
First, I hope you read this before the post gets deleted.
Second, it's my car and I'll do whatever the hell I want to with the car, if I want to set it on fire just to watch I will and YOU have NO right to say I can't.
3rd, I NEVER said I want to drag race the car. I have more respect for this car than most likely 95% of all the people on this board! I don't know where you get off telling me off when I NEVER said I would do anything like beat it down or drag race it! The hardest I'd EVER push the engine is a chassis dyno and that won't be til atleast 3K miles when the motor is broken in.
You need to calm the hell down and I think you owe me an apology.
Last, you would be amazed at how poor I am. I'm not rich. I make only 2K a month and I had to finance the car. I'm lucky because I make my own luck. I run out of food and gasm oney before my next paycheck even come around, I have dirty clothes too! BUT I take care of my cars. Anyone who knows me will say the same. ALL my money goes into my cars, even before bills like electric and phone sometimes, I care about them more than ANYTHING (next to my 3 yr old son). "I" am a "true car guy". I'm not some stupid kid with a passing hobby and lots of daddy's money, I work hard.
I could go on and I know I shouldn't have said allot of the stuff I did but I think your an a$$ who's level I shouldn't stoop to but I just worked a 13 hour day and you caught me while I'm tired......

Re: 91 & 92 Firehawk Milage Q....
This is where I got you draging the car from...
As I stated before it is your car and you can do what you want with it. If you pamper this car and respect it then you are a saint. Hwever if you read what your original post states this is why I was mad. Will I say I am sorry? To a certain extent. Yes I may have gotten myself to worked up, however I partially did over your statements. Next year I am hoping to purchase a mint no/low miles 10th Hawk and I will pamper the thing. I wasn't in the financial position to purchase on durring production but as soon as my '00 is paid off next year I will be hunting down a 10th Hawk. As for owning that car..... Congrats! You have a real gem!

Uhh, yes it is. What's faster?
Why would you BEAT a car when only 25 were made?
Driving it the way it was meant is not beating on it. Leaving it in a garage and taking it out for parades is a complete waste of the intent behind building the car.

Ok, I also admit that I owe an apology being that I did that the above statement and I should have been more specfic. Eventually I would like to take the car to SLP day and have one of the pro's run my car just the once with drag slicks to see what it can do but only ONCE and I won't let him rev it past what my dyno says is my powerband peak which is only 5500. This won't be until about 5K or more miles if the car ever gets that high while I own it.

I appreciate your analogy but I don't want to put that much stress on car that has not been driven hardly at all in the last 11 years if you know what I mean. It's like draging a new car, draging this car may cause some serious problems especially since none of the previous owners ever revved the damn thing over 4K. Hell I had it up to 3800 in 2nd and was freaking out over dirving it too hard. I plan on breaking in from scratch like it has 0 miles on it and pretending it's a piece of glass. I'm very glad however of how it's been stored and cared for by previous owners, the car is mint, it's looks like it was just made, all the rubber is nice and soft and the tires looks new too...

I even broke down and ran my T/A there. When I find a no/low mile 10th anniv hawk it will rarely see the light of day but it will be trailered to SLP day and it will see the track like yourself once
Just for hahas. However I will be running my own car. If I do it right it will be less then 1/2 mi partial in, partial out, trailer:lala: Slp day really is alot of fun. TPIterror personally I would be gawking all over the 3rd gen hawk. However, countless people are not going to realize what is special about his car. When I have my '00 out vs. a 3rd gen the 4th tends to get more attn. mainly because you don't see them that much and people wonder what it is and if they are still made. I can't count on my hands the times people said those are still made? Hell I had Florida highway patrol pull me over and say that's a awesome new muscle car. How ofter are they doing taht with older ones? Unless they are a car buff they wont know what so special about his car. Even in Ft Lauderdale if you go to the huge car show every fri night see what ones the kids are checking out??? The new ones. Sad to say but our 3rd gens are showing their age
They look dated and something from the past A 91 Firehawk dated huh
Actually I get off on driving around in the hawk and knowing what it is and knowing that NO ONE else does, it's cool
Plus I don't have to put up with allot of stupid people asking me stupid questions all the time like "what year is that Camaro?" and "does that have a v8?". I like not getting attention. Besides it means I can park it outside the Chevron to stop and take a **** and not worry about it like I did yesterday

Your a brave soul for letting that car sit without you! You don't like the attention from the retards that wonder if it has a V8??? Those people are classis. I love not having a 350 in my '00. People ask if it has a 350 and I tell em well ummm nooo it's only a 346 and they say oh(chuckling) it's not a 350. I feel like laughing my *** off at em but hey I guess we all get are kicks different ways. So when are you trailering it back to the original SLP day in Old Englishtown, NJ?
I wanna see this car!!! They had my dream 10th at the one in Nj did they have it out there. Damn SLP where is my dream car
Next spring they will be getting a n Email from me seeing if tehy are selling it like they do with all of em eventually. I doubt they will though. This is unless you are selling yours in the spring
Sorry, only SLP day in Vegas. I'll have a professional photo taken and made into a giant poster and I'll send you a copy
BTW, I'll NEVER sell the car, I would sell it before my 92 GTA however...

Pics/poster?
Hey, 92 GTA
I'm game for the poster as well, but why not a freakin' video of it!?!?!
If it will be run only one time on the drag...it should be captured in digital Hi-fi video, or something close!!
I found a site that features video clips of cars on and off strip... very interesting! (may be Fast and Furious type stuff on there)

They look dated and something from the past And as far as 4th gens being common, they are. Maybe not the Firehawks, but do they really look that different? If you want to look at proof between popularity of the models, just look at the total 3rd gen sales vs. 4th gens.

TPI terror,
I agree that the third gens look better then the 4ths, but have you sat in both?
I have and prefer the seemingly larger cabins of the 3rd gens. I almost got a 2nd gen'er though...mylar dash on that sucker!
They are awesome, although they appear somewhat dated, I guess

Alex congrats on your latest addition to the family. Drive it and enjoy it.
I agree that the 3rd gen styling is timeless. As far as the 10th Firehawks we had 3 at our show in the Washhington area including the Xmen version

I want one of those cars. I remember when I was 14 and the first designs of the 98-up cars were released. I swore before I was 21 I would have one. Well at 18 I purchased my T/A with 3 miles on it
I have it completely documented and rarely ever drive it anymore(1100mi this year) I always wanted a Hawk and was going to order one but my 98 Eldorado was a lemon and didn't have time to wait. When the pics of the 10th came out I thought this has to be the best of both worlds! A Hawk and anniv car that really stands out from the rest of a already rare car. When it was official that the car was dead I ordered '02 Hawk #508 at the dealer I was working for(still have build sheets, copy of mso, invoice, everything) I created to much intrest and they tore up my buyers order
when the car came in and went from triple cost plus $200 on the car and $15 for my '00 to list and $12 for mine. I was pissed and quit. They stole #508 Navy Blue 1LE every option Hawk from me(I couldn't purchase cuz I wasn't making enough money with em to get financed otherwise I still would have)
Now I am making very good money at Sprint PCS and had decided to wait til spring when all my cars are paid off, the Z28 is almost done, and I can afford all 4
Can you ask if any are interested in selling their cars? If they are 110% stock and extremely low miles I will be willing to pay a mint for one... I also said I would own a Evok(XLR) before I was 21 but I guess it doesn't count since they are not out yet. I am not as impressed w/o 22" wheels and no blower
I guess that's my loop hole out

I also owned 2 2nd gen cars. They were actually pretty comfortable aside from my *** always sliding around on the vinyl!

92 GTA, checked out the window sticker on your 1992 GTA, WOW I didn't remember that they cost that much. I remember looking at them in the showroom and they sure came loaded, always wanted one. Back when I was 16 the "Smokey and the Bandit" TA came out and that is still my #2 favorite next to the GTA. Couldn't afford one back then either

holy ****! post away! the 3rd gen firehawk is one of the most bad a$$ cars ever built and i would take one in a heart beat over a 4th gen. about the miles.... i would only drive it extremely rarely, as in ALMOST never. then get a regular formie and make a firehawk clone to beat on.
send me any pics you got... sweetroc@beer.com
Enjoy your car. Take of your car. Whether you have 10 miles or 100,000 miles, its your car and nobody elses. Feel good driving it or just looking at it in your garage. A car is pride. And be proud.

Drive the car who cares about the mileage if you bought to drive then drive it worring about the value of the car will just take all of the fun out of that car and that fun is the very thing that it was built for all and all what is the point in owning something that you can`t drive I know that I wouldn`t
