What do you guys think about this car?

Its an 87 GTA for $1000. Its a carburated 305 with a 5 speed (i really want a five speed, im tired of the lo3 auto- its going to be a daily driver. The interior is crap, the doors sag a bit, the center console lid is made out of a square 2" thick piece of scratched up plexy glass, there is no driver's side door panel, seats ripped and the body has some cracks in the bottom of the nose and since the doors sag the T-tops probably leak alot.

But i did drive it and it feels suprisingly smooth for the condition

But one good thing is that i have a daily driver so i can spend alot of time fixing it.
Tell me what you guys think-

Sounds like it needs some work, but hey what can you expect for 1000 bucks. I didn't know they made a carbed GTA though? Might want to check the originality of the engine (if that matters to you). I'd say try and talk them down a couple hundred (can't hurt right?) and go for it.

actually i went back to look at it for some details and it is not a GTA it is just a T/A. I dont know what the original motor is but it has a stock hood scoop that is right in front of the driver. It is carb and it has the square front and not the pointed front. Just for info. Can anybody tell me what it is (stock)
like : hp torque gears and miscellaneous stuff about this car.

The hood scoop you described makes it sound more like a formula. Unless its an earlier T/A like an 82-84 (I forget exactly the years they had this hood).

post the VIN here if you can. 83-84 T/A's had the scoop shown above, 85-92 had dual horizontal gills near the middle of the hood.

Got my 87 for the same price, its a little rough on the outside, but the drivetrain is in good shape, It had a new 350 put in about a year ago . New headders, and new tires. The guy I bought it from just lost intrest in it and wanted to get rid of it. I offered him a $ 1000. and he took it. I will be driving it all this winter for my winter beater. So far all Ive had to do is put a new battery in it.
Good luck .

If it's a carbed 87, then it's an LG4. That's a step in the WRONG direction from an L03.

I went to get the VIN but the dealership took it to the auction. When we got there they called the guy that took it to the auction and told him not to sell it but he only got his voice mail, so maybe it is sold and maybe not.

If its not im gonna put some $ down so they will hold it. Yea that hood is sweet so it is probably an 84ish model i will try to find out more details later

Car's condition

I could not see any rust but it has the stock rims that are chipped and really dirty and the body is actually smooth but it needs washed and then painted badly. There is a few cracks maybe like one or two in the bottom of the nose but all the glass is okay but the doors sag, there is about 1/4 to 1/2 of a inch gap from the top of the glass to the T-tops. How hard would it be to rehang the doors. I have a floor jack and some friends so i think we could do it.
