IROC Models 1/8 and 1/16 Scale
IROC Models 1/8 and 1/16 Scale
Posted are pics of both my 1/8 and 1/16 scale IROC models...fashioned after my 87 IROC.
The 1/8 Scale IROC strengths are the engine compartment where I had to fabricate a lot of the air conditioning/smog equipment...and the red "pimp" felt that I used on the headliner, interior panels, and carpet with homemade sun visors.
The 1/16 Scale stronge point was the Candy Apple paint job that was airbrushed on with a coat of clear. The 1/8 Scale was painted using "lame" srpay can model paint that didn't go on as well as the 1/8 scale. I wished that I could have painted the 1/8 scale correctly with the air brush. Out of the 2 the 1/16 scale is my favorate thanks to the paint job and the doors/hatch that open...unlike the 1/8 scale where they don't open.
Comments welcome.

If those pics of the front end were any more degraded I'd never know that it wasn't a real IROC. Good job on the models.

Now I remember why I didn't finish it... sort of like real life. I tubbed it by forming tubs from sheet plastic and was wedging the blown hemi engine from another kit between the wheel wells.
Maybe I ought to finish it. Maybe I should post a couple pics of the progress [(halted about 10 years ago...

Of the 2 the 1/16 scale is my favorate. I think that the body is closer to the real thing. The 1/8 scale size is nice...but the Tires are all wrong...they provided 255 instead of stock 245 Gatorbacks...which really afects the overall look of the car and how it sits.
Now if I could transfer the 1/8 scale's engine bay to the 1/16 scale..we would be in business.

I agree the 1/16 scale is best, the 1/8 scale is TOO BIG, I couldn't get my 1/8 scale 85 Iroc-z into my display case

The sidewall height of the 1/8 scale doesn't look like the real thing. Since I have the real thing a couple footsteps away in my garage...I can see that they (tires) are wrong proportion--the writing on the tire themselves say "255/50/16". Not saying that the 1/8 scale isn't cool..it is, but on a scale of 1-10 for authenticty ...10 being real thing...I would rate it a 7.5. The 1/16 scale on the other hand is closer "9".
