91 RS Special Order Color???

I have a 91 RS and on the RPO sheet it lists 01U and according to the RPO Decoder, it is "Primary Color, Exterior, Special (91).

The car is a B4C car, and is blue, any idea what this color is?? Can't find a "91" color listed for the 91 Camaros..

Anyone else have this color listed on theirs???

Thanks

Tom

the '(91)' designates that the RPO applies only to the 1991 model year.

Look in the white book and it'll identify the color... 01 is the code, the U designates that it's the upper color, a 01L would be the lower color, and so on.

The White Book doesn't list a code 01 for 1991 colors.

Light Blue is 23, and Ultra Blue is 98

we mix and sell paint at the napa where i work. when i'm at work on monday, i'll check and see if i can track down a color for you. we're closed on sundays, and i didn't see this until after i got home from work for the day.

just so i'm understanding and don't list the wrong color or something.... the particular code you are searching for is 01U, correct?

i'll send you a pm on monday with what i find.

O1 means primary color, does it in deed have the O1L as well. The only time i see these codes were on two tone Black and Whites.

Nope...just 01U.

The car is blue..no doubt about it. I can tell it was originally blue (or it was one heck of a paint job!!)..

Anybody else????

tom:

i looked in the large book of paint chips that we have at work for 1991 gm cars, and it does not list any paints with the 01 code

i'm wondering..... this car is a b4c... could there be a possibillity of them not listing the paint code for safety reasons? think about it.... the paint not being listed in order to prevent just anyone from getting that paint?

it's just a wild *** guess.

Special paint colors won't be listed in the white book. 91 designates that is was a special color for the 91 model year. 01 is the paint color you are looking for, which is reserved for non- standard colors (special). I don't know if GM keeps records of these or not. Since it is a B4C, maybe a police department ordered it and wanted their special blend of blue.

Surely someone has these records??? I am looking at getting the car repainted in the fall, and I am not sure how to do this without the paint information????

I will have the car home on Saturday, so I can get some pictures posted and maybe someone will recognize the color.....

Thanks

The white book is a listing of Camaro production numbers, options, rpos, prices, yearly changes etc. They dont make one for the Firebirds yet.

Actually they do (or did). It wasn't called the White Book tho, it was called the Firebird Red Book.

My local book store says that both books are now Out of Print :-(

Well, lemme say this. Since we agree it is a special color (do we??), you are having it painted soon, and I am sure you are having it done the right way sparing no expense; just have the body shop match the color. If it is off slightly, who's gonna know? It's not like someone is gonna pull out the color chart. I think it will add a definite punch to the "unknowns" when it comes to the car. I mean really, if someone asks you the color code, tell them it was a special mix and wasn't an available color.

I dunno. I would like to know the color too if I were in your shoes. Oh well, let me know if I am off base here guys.

All the paint work is being done by a very good friend of mine that runs a body shop, so I am sure it will be perfect. I would just like to know the correct color.

I imagine that most people will assume it is not an original color anyway, so I guess there is no use in trying to convice them anyway.

It is my first experience with a B4C car, and I must say, it is interesting. Too bad General Motors didn't keep better records, I would not think that there are too many more like this one. I imagine the only ones would be the ones that were put into service with it at the same Police Department. Anybody from Wisconsin remember the State Patrol Cars colors???

Thanks

Tom

Well the car is here and boy is the blue weird. I will get some pictures tomorrow if it stops raining, but it is a lot darker than the "normal" blue. I went over the car pretty well and it is not a repaint, it is the original color. I had my doubts when I first saw it, but sure enough, it is the original color. It was originally a Wisconsin State Trooper car..does anyone else have one of these that maybe they can shed some light on the color??

Again, I will try and post some pictures tomorrow if my camera will show the color good and if it stops raining....

Thanks
