Base 1982 Firebird

Found this on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2426720818

This car is pretty interesting. Its a super base Firebird. This is the first 82 I have ever seen that had the 2ndgen style snowflake wheels. I have never seen these before, only heared rumors that some 82's had them. It also has the base door mirrors. And to top it off, its an Iron Duke w/ a 4spd.

Pretty cool little Bird'

Interesting. I wish he had better pictures of the car. I heard that some early birds got the snowflake wheels. Ive only seen one other car in person that had it.

I would love to own that car. It appears to have been very well taken car of. $2500 for a 4 cylinder may be asking a bit much but I guess since it is a rare optioned Firebird he could ask that much.

Makes me wish mine was in a little better shape.

Cool find, thanks for posting it!

later,
bill

Hi Dan!
I use to see lots of them! Being here in SoCal where they were made, almost every dealer had at least one on the lot.
Now, I just see them in the junk yards!! Seems no one wants the 4 banger anymore!!

So, how are things back there? I just checked airfare for dayton, Ohio. $1,200.00!!!! So, no way I'm going now! Still gotta check on SEMA for you!

Later,

George

ive seen three 4 cyl birds ot date, helped put a SBC400 in one once in front of the original 4 speed trans, used a 67-72 truck iron bellhousing and dented the floor board to allow clutch linkage room

never seen flakes on third gen yet,

but i finalyl saw a 78 or 79 top of the line bird with the 15" cast hweels that you never hardly ever see, not the snowflakes but the rarer- by far- ones, forgot the name now.,,

Are these the 15" ones you saw?

N90 Cast Aluminum Turbo Flow 15"x8" from a 79 10th Anniversary Edition.

PS: Have a set of the 82 N90 Gold Snowflakes if anyone is interested. Great condition.

I see alot of 4 bangers in the junk yard. Fact is they are pretty slow and no one really wants a slow Firebird or Camaro. While I can appreciate any thirdgen in such good condition, a base model 4 cyl. bird for $2500 is a bit much in my opinion. Even if rare.

No matter how hard ya try , ya can't buy every 'Bird. That is a beautiful 4 cyl. Long live the Iron Duke! Anyone remember the Kelly Series 4 cyl. firebird that went 130MPH in 1983. Not at all bad for an 80's 4 cyl. i wish mine at least went 130. HE's doing 0mph.right now.

It says in the description that the tranny and rear end are the same as the ones used in the V8 models... that's not true as far as I have been told/seen from experience. My first car was an 87 Camaro with the 2.8. I put a 350/5 speed in it and the rear end fried in no time at all... is the 4 cylinder different?
