I was at my friends house over the weekend and his family was having a get together. One of his dads friends and I were talking cars and he mentioned he has a 92 RS convertible so I go off spewing 3rd gen facts since I spend wayyyy too much time reading up on this site. Then he tells me that is has the 5.7 350 TPI as its stock engine. I told him no way, its the 5.0 305 TBI. He didn't have it with him so I couldn't check under the hood, but did an RS ever come with a 350???

 

No. The only exception are the B4C police cars.

 

I was going to offer that it may have the 305 TPI, but then I looked at the tech data on site and thought better of it, lol.

Something that did happen and was explained in another post as well, was that a guy bought a Z-28, I think it was an IROC if I remember correctly, but had all RS badges put on by the dealer because he didn't like the extra stuff the Z of that year had. That may be a possibility, dealer conversion. Best thing to do is get the VIN and run it.

F= LB9

there was a dealer conversion of a 350 TBI, BUT that was from the dealer, other wise the car is a B4C 350 Tpi, a 305 TBI or a 3.1 V6

 

If it's convertible then there is no way it came from the factory with a 350 in it.

 

I didn't even think about the fact it's a convertible, I'm pretty sure dealerships didn't even install the 350 TBI in the verts either.

 

I dont entirely agree, but thats ok. I would say that there arent any factory RS 350's out there though.
