Iron Duke Race Performance
I own a 1990 IROC. I like it a lot and all, but when I bought it, I thought it was a rare car, for it was equipped with an Iron Duke. For those of you not familiar, the Iron Duke is the 2.5 4 cyl engine found in many Camaros. I've never heard of one being in an iroc though. Is my car some rariety, or do you think I was underhanded?

If it has an L4 it's not a 1990 unless it was swapped in. Why someone would want to do that I have no idea.

That definatly isn't factory. Either someone swapped the engine in there for some odd reason, or they put all the iroc stuff on an Iron Duke car, maybie they switched over the VIN plate?

For performance...
Ever since I picked up my iroc duke I have wanted to get some more performance out of it, I was excited to find this engine in the car, I mean, the thing is just made for it, you know? Runs nice and smooth... So what I need to know is where should I start to make this thing the speed demon I know it has the potential to be??

Strange, put it through the Vin decoder and it says "2 is not a known engine code". Sure that vin is right?

Iron duke runs nice and smooth???? I had an 85 grand am with an iron duke and it nearly shook the dash apart when it was running smooth! Iron dukes were durable, but noisy and would shake your fillings out! As I understand the second hand story some pontiac zone rep got fired for making a vibrator comment about the thing.
