Cool!

Hey, I read this in the paper yesterday, and just thought I'd share it.

An '83 Trans Am (KITT) is actually one of the most famous movie/TV cars ever! It beat out some heavy competition too, like the General Lee and Eleanor.

I figured this post fit here the best, and just thought I'd share. I know some of you will be interested.

KITT ... Why did that show ever have to be made... I swear next time someone mentions KITT when they see my T/A's they are getting killed....... It gets really annoying...

I agree. People ask me when I'm adding the lights and stuff... and tell me I need to paint it black too...

I have a real love hate ralationship w/ KITT I love the TV show, its great seeing an awsome thirdgen kick some butt. I am certain it influenced me somehow, all those hours of staring at a thirdgen T/A sunk into my brain. I can even live with the fact that people build KITT replicas, because they are taking cars that were destined to be crushed and giving them a longer lease on life. I can really appreciate and enjoy the replicas that are well done.

In a recent issue of HPP they featured a beautiful KITT replica, I also saw it at the T/A nats last year.

Now, why I hate KITT. I cant stand all the hack job KITTs there are running around out there. How many clean low mileage Birds' have been hacked to pieces in the name of a replicar that never got finished? The KITT people also raise the prices for hard to find 82-84 parts. So people trying to put their 82 back to its stock configuration have to pay an arm and a leg for a set of wheel covers or PMD seats.

I think taking an 86 Firebird with high miles and making a KITT replica is fine, but when someone hacks up a perfectly good 83 Recaro T/A I think thats very sad. KITT was NOT a Recaro T/A.

Ok Im done, sorry

Or how about hacking up high miled cars with straight bodies and interiors... I'd consider that almost as bad as hacking up one with low miles.

Another reason I hate the KR people... The insane prices for the wheels and seats... Along with other parts...

Hey Alex!
Now that you got two early Trans Ams, why not make one a Kitt? And the other Karr?
Gee..........you can come over and watch all my Knight Rider videos too!!
You think that you guys have to pay high prices for your stuff, try pricing turbo parts!!
I see more trashed out '82-'84 Trans Ams than I see any not-finished Kitts running around!
I loved the show for the car, and for Pontiac sponcering it at the time! I've got Pontiac Trans Am, Fiero, and Grand Am commericals taped with the program too!
And, if it wasn't for Michael Knight, we probably would never have have Babewatch to watch! Cars, girls, what more could you ask for?

Later,

George

Hey George, Alex, hows things?

You know in this country (UK) people are building KITT replicas out of nice GTA's. I really like this because this means I can pick up GTA hoods, aero kits etc for next to nothing and keep as spare for my TTA!!!

Hey, I got all KR DVD's and toys in my collection and my son is a big fan!!! Nothing wrong with KR, I watched it when I got home from high school back in 84 when I lived in Portland OR ... I still have photos from the Universal Studios backlot with like 10 or so different KITT's they used for filming KR!

Hi Jan!
I would love to see your photos of Kitt way back when, and compare them to mine when I visited Universal Studios!
maybe next time you come out and visit, you can bring them!
BTW, you're car is looking good! I hope you took everything down in the garage that was above waist hight!!

Later,

George
