Van Nuys VIN is 5,121. This is likely one of first few thousand IROCs ever built. Bought in 1984. And loaded with options.

Interesting car but I don't know if you can trust mileage when the speedo has been swapped.
EDIT: He probably has it documented when it was changed if he still has original bill of sale.

Interesting observation. Gotta wonder why. Most will never know the difference.
KNOW YOUR THIRDGEN
Original tires should help support his claim.
Any chance that speedo is original? Maybe an early production item?

BBBUUUUUTTTTT the odometers were tamper resistant, if you tried to roll one back the numbers wouldnt align in there "slots" and a silver strip would appear in the "slots"
85 or 95 dont matter, there all the same..if its says 19,000 its got 19,000

You can take the odometer out of the speedometer and roll it back that way to prevent the silver lines. I dont do that, but Ive had them apart before and it works...gotta be a crook to do it though. Quite easy actually.

I didn't notice that at first.
Good eye.
No that is not normal. The engine compartment should be bright blue like the rest of the car.
I'd stay away from this one, it looks fishy too me.

I think it's undercoated. You can see black edges by the headlights where it was probably taped to prevent overspray. Certainly not a desireable feature on a collector status vehicle.
But I think a lot of 'em were rustproofed in the 80s. Certainly many intended for winter were. Those cars may not have rusted out so quickly, but the fact that they were driven year round probably means most are wore out and scrapped by now.

Also note the goodyear VR's. Try finding those. If you do find a whole nice set, be prepared to part with your left nut if you want them. Not something that you would find on a 40k mile and up car.
However, the driver's GFX screams "repainted".

One of the first IROC's
I was in Norwood in 1987 for the USCC Camaro nats, and supposedly the first IROC to be built at Norwood was at that show. Word has it that the 16 inch IROC wheels hadn't arrived at the plant yet, so it came off the line with the WS6 T/A wheels.

It says it has ALL the options, but wasn't the rear-wiper still an available option on the early IROC-Z's?
If I was foolish enough to buy that car for $9K+, I'd certainly take off those ugly mudflaps, pinstripes, front plate bracket and get a correct '85 style speedo for that thing. Jeez, for that price level all those things should be done already.
ES87iroc,
Not really. The owner could have put the VR Gatorbacks in "storage" while he drove the car around for more miles than is stated. Change the speedometer and put the VR's back on and presto low mileage with original tires.
.
Yep, that driver's side GFX sure don't match the rest of the car. I wonder what happened there? Couldn't they get a proper color match or something?
