Need a Formula rear wheel
I got into a wreck this afternoon. No major damge, but there is a chunk of my driver's side rear wheel missing. Anybody know the best place to get one? ('89 Formula, WS6 caps...etc.). I looked on year one without luck, I was planning to contact my local huge Chevy dealer tomorrow, and perhaps some of the local junkyards here in Raleigh, NC. Any other ideas?
Also, these Formula wheels on the 89, how many other years were they the same? I thought it was through 92, but Im not sure. If a 90-92 Formula wheel is the same, that would certainly expand the search a bit.
Thanks.

That Formula wheel was used from '88-'92. Try www.1000wheels.com Begin with the "product catalog," and you should be able to navigate to your rims from there.

Make sure you get the 16" rim, remember there were some 15" rims that looked like the Formula rim but they were not, the easiest difference to tell (other than size) is the Formula rim had the small all around the outer edge.
Front & rear are different too... (fronts will fit on rear, rears will not fit on Front, there is about a 3/4" difference.

One more question
Yeah, size and the fact the rears dont fit on the fron I knew about. I do have one more question though. I was looking at a parts search online, and it had the Formula rear "concave" and "convex". Any easy way to tell which one is which?

The Concave is the 88-92 style
The Convex is the 85-87 WS6 T/A / Formula Wheel

The Hi Tech Turbo "Convex" was introduced in 84 in white only on the 15th Anniversary T/A and was also used on other Pontiacs in smaller versions from 85 onward.
I remember the difference this way, if the wheel is "caved in" it's concave.

Interestinly enough I think I have some of those white 1984 wheels that someone painted silver...

Yes I figured it was worth mentioning but also knew that you knew.......
It was supposed to be available in graphite also, but I have never seen one...

The Convex turbo style Formula WS6 wheels I have seen...
Silver with Graphite or Charcoal inserts
Gold
White (blue stripe)
According to the parts catalog
1985 - 1986 Wheel Lt Chestnut (N96)
1986 - 1987 Wheel Gold (N96, 60P)
1985 - 1988 Wheel Charcoal (N96, 18P)
( I know that common knowledge dictates that the Formula wheel changed in 1988, but I believe that there are some early 1988 Formulas out there that have the convex wheel
To throw an even bigger wrench into the mix, the parts catalog shows the Concave style wheel as an option (PE0) in 1987, I have seen some 1987 & 1988 WS6 Trans Ams that had the deep dish wheels, and it may be as the year ended, and they were switching over from 1987 to 1988 they were running short on the N96 wheel, so all the formulas got them until they were out, and the PE0 wheel was put on the Trans Am until they switched over to the crosslaced rim... (just a theory mind you.
Go fig...
All of The later concave wheels all appear to be painted silver with the machined surface.
